gearing alts this week and i noticed that world bosses will give you items that you literally cannot/shouldnt use
gearing my shaman right now and i just got 642 IL cloth legs on … a shaman…
why is this even a thing? is this a bug?

so not only do you have a low % chance to even GET gear… but the gear has a % chance to not even be gear that you can use in the first place?

It is 100% chance on your first kill of the week on your account to get a piece of loot. The only downside is you won’t get anything on subsequent kills on alts, just the first kill. Whether you can equip it is another thing entirely, but at least it is warbound and alts can use it.
Blizzard is experimenting. Who knows if the next world boss will function this way.

I would rather have a guaranteed chance at loot I might not be able to use, but can at least give to an alt, than a low chance of getting anything at all. Oh no, you got a piece of champion gear you can’t personally use! That’s so much worse than getting nothing at all!

Today I tried to game the system and went on my hunter, as I don’t need any more mail armor and hoped the boss might drop leather. Nope, got mail, the first time it dropped class appropriate gear.
The warbound system has far more positives than negatives

aside from some currencies being transferrable and warband bank everything else is arbitrarily locked behind one character per week
i play a lot of alts and im getting tired of resonance crystals.
cant even do the brawl weekly on more than like two characters (comp stomp) for the marks i used to get

Because the very thought of giving each character of your warband a reasonable chance at getting a Champion track item causes the devs a mental breakdown.
According to those delusional devs, it is much better to get one piece of gear that your warband “might” be able to use.

What’s more mind boggling is people who would prefer to get nothing for 9 weeks then one piece of loot your character can use, vs getting 9 pieces of warbound gear your main cant use and then 1 piece your character can finally use.
One way you get nothing, the other way you get 9 extra pieces maybe your alts can use.

No, the undermine world boss is guaranteed to drop a piece of gear on your first kill of the week, but it’s warbound. So far I’ve had kills mostly line up with the character that did it and only one piece that did not.
But no, you’re guaranteed to get a piece on the first kill of the week.
