It’s been like two weeks now, a bit more, and work orders are still dead.
I’ve heard most folks just send work orders to their alts from their main and are basically entirely self-sufficient.
As a JC, there is only ever one work order, and it’s that uber-epic necklace with a recipe that goes for gold cap- I’m fairly sure it’s rarer than any rare drop mount in the game.
It’s depressing that this new feature has just fallen flat for most.
Either you got lucky and are Bezos-level rich from those recipes, and now raking it in because of monopoly, or you’re one of the rest of us poors who didn’t get it.
At least I can sell raw mining ingredients…
Edit: This whole system seems to only benefit a handful of people. That, and it seems I’ve picked the wrong profession to make money. But at least unlike tailors, I don’t get banned just for making stuff.

Public work orders are generally dead in my experience, I occasionally see one but it’s snapped up so fast by someone else.
However Personal and Guild order’s aren’t. I’ve filled quite a bit of personal and guild orders.
I do think however in a new patch either 10.0.5 or 10.1 we should have new items that can easily allow us to hit skill cap of 100/100. So far I’ve only been able to do so on Alchemy.

I am hoping if a join a guild or community, things will change.
Still, public orders should exist.
Two of my current pieces of gear were work orders.
I’d consider that a success, myself! I’m hoping someone can make the necklace I want but I don’t know what level Jewelcrafting one needs…

ive never seen a new feature in wow fail so hard in all my years of playing
its depressing really
it just goes to show out bad the current devs are
the ones who made wow great, who knew how to make a video game interesting and fun are long gone

I don’t see how this makes the devs bad. The system needs some work, but it’s good overall. Public orders are where the problem lies.

I wouldn’t say it’s failing, the BoP items are being made via public, guild, and personal work orders. The thing is they are getting picked up so fast (maybe addon’s?) that its hard for most people to be able to pick it up and craft.
But if you put any BoP item as a work order it will be crafted within 5 mins on prime time.

Let buyers set the quality of the item for Public Orders like you can for Private. That’s the only thing holding me back from putting Public WO’s up for grabs.

So you never saw shadowlands covenants or torghast? BFA Azarite gear or warfronts?

dead for you man but bussiness has been booming for me in guild and personal orders, public orders are a no man land to grab some gold for cheap stuff but the other type are great
those things may have been highly disliked but they were interesting enough to see heavy engagement all throughout their expacs
work orders were literally dead on arrival, see zero use and are a cold hard FLOP

Seems to be working fine for PvPers, we have two pieces of gear that you either have to craft yourself or use work orders for, and a ton of people seem to have no issue using work orders for it. My priest has one piece already and should have the second soon. I also used work orders for the saddle color unlocks that scribes can make, was pretty fast and easy.
Dunno how it is on the other side though, I imagine for some stuff there is a lot of competition for grabbing orders to fulfill, especially if the tip is nice.

They are not dead, you are just not seeing what they are. It is first and foremost a tool for trading with your alts. Secondarily it is a tool for organizing guild professions. Distant third is the public listings. This is just an emergency backstop for the most isolated people to get help. It’s one of the strongest tools we’ve ever been given, just open your eyes.

Thats an opinion. One that isnt even based in anecdote.

If crafting orders could be region wide, it would probably help a lot more folks.

Personally, I don’t have any worthwhile recipes. So I just place work orders within my own personal guild and fulfill them. I don’t even look at the public ones since I know I can’t fulfill them.

From a buyer’s point of view, it’s fantastic right now. I took gathering profs, and I love work orders for really nice, cheap gear.

yeah I can’t think of any reason to interact with that system.
I don’t see any incentive as an alchemist and herbalist to not just gather my stuff and post it on the auction house.
edit: also it feels like the vast majority of the potions and elixirs and whatnot I can make are locked behind rep…
so that’s just one more speed bump in between me and the system that already looks far too cumbersome

Yes work orders are a failure and the AH is way better.
Tie the work orders to the AH somehow instead of them being separate or get rid of it. It’s useless and it makes crafting clunkier.

give it time, most people don’t have the recipes that work orders were designed for.
