Work check-ins!

So I’m updating a deployment script with the newest iteration of the AV software we use, and while I’m doing this I needed to move / rename the old .exe and that’s when I saw the naming convention of what others had been doing with the older versions. Typically you just throw a .old at the end of it, but this had been done before so when the next guy came along he named it .oldold. The one I replaced is now named AntiVirus.oldoldoldold

I realllly hope nobody deletes these and 2 years from now I can come back and see .oldoldoldoldoldoldoldoldoldoldoldoldold etc

MSP here.

I got here late since its a 45 minute drive and I slept over at my girlfriends’ and its a little further than I’m used to. I passed my boss while driving and he still made it here earlier than me, wonder which route he took . Anyway I’ll be working on a model all day today so it should go by quick hopefully.

What does a work check in mean? Like what are we doing at work?

If so, reading reports of all the violent crimes that occurred in the past 24 hours while looking at articles in the paper claiming the crime rate is dropping.

Oh and wishing I had more coffee.

I’m technically always at work and almost never at work. I walked away from the corporate world and I now sell my artwork and do pet sitting. I have two stops today to take care of some doggos while their owner is on vacation and I need to go pick up all of the information and the keys to the house in just a few.

Just the people who are on the forums because they’re at work and can’t play. I saw a thread like this yesterday and it just seemed people are like “yeah I’m at work too, this is my day so far” blah blah

I’m supposed to be working, but my coworkers keep coming into my cubicle area to talk about Marvel Strike Force. They’ll talk about their team comps or whatever drama they’re having in their alliance for hours. I don’t play Marvel Strike Force.

I’m not doing :poop: today. I’m caught up on my maintenance so I’m booooooooored.

My day so far: meetings about security aka “don’t throw confidential government files in the trash” (yes, apparently we really did need this meeting…), reviewing model files, procrastinating on letters I need to write, etc. The usual.

Real engineering is boring kids! Nothing like I thought it would be. On the plus side, my 1 year anniversary working here was yesterday.

I got in about 40 minutes ago. Presently, I’m drinking coffee and eating breakfast potatoes at my desk. So far, nothing terribly exciting.

I’m procrastinating like crazy, I got in at 9, and so far I’ve been on the WoW forums all morning. It’s 10:48 right now.

Had a rough night and got in just in the nick of time, only to find out that my 2nd and 3rd shift counterparts had both tried to start up the same job and I had to spend my morning disentangling the work they had done at cross purposes.

Everything’s sorted out now but I need to catch up on the work I didn’t do to help fix that and I badly need a nap.

At least I got chicken.

Fiddling with a timeclock that decided that it didn’t want to be useful today.

It’s mildly entetaining. I haven’t worked on one of these before.

Im doing some coding… analyzing some of our posters social habits and getting coffee for various folks around the office.

Moving furniture back into classrooms very busy

Im supposed to be updating a worksheet for a new system were implementing- but Im here lol.

HRIS worker here.

Almost every post I’ve ever made on these forums was killing time during work downtime.

Honestly a nada day here. Discussing some bureaucracy type items (college institution stuff) with staff. Approving time sheets. Slow day student wise. Putting a few on college entrance exams and a couple on online course exams. Otherwise, testing center is drab today.

What sort of timeclock is it? ADP? Is it modem (yes people still use these >.<), or Ethernet?
