Worgen players. A question for you

Do you play as Worgen characters because you like the Gilnean culture and peoples or do you just want to play as a werewolf?

A recent conversation I had brought this question to my attention as I was told no one plays worgen to be a Gilnean they just want to be a cool AF werewolf.

Bit of both…? My reasons involve the idea that these races stand out so much. I hate the generic Human/Elf races. Sure, orcs are different, trolls are too but they still look too… Human-y you know? Worgens look more beast than man. Draenei shares this a bit too but barely enough for me to play them too.

So, that’s my reason.

The moment Worgen were announced for Cata, I wanted in.
Werewolves have always been cool to me and the Sons of Arugal kicked my butt when I was a low level scrub.
Having the chance to be a butt-kicking werewolf was an instant yes for me.

I didn’t know about Gilneas before then. But a Victorian aesthetic is always a plus in my opinion.

I actually struggle to play worgen, but wouldn’t mind sticking in the human form. The lore and culture is good.

Also, if they made worgen look cooler, for me, that would help.

Well, some of them are, if they forget to fear the Old Blood.

Yes to both because you have two forms for the matter. Unfortunately you can only use one form to fight and the other to role play where Greymane can do both with no problem.

Both of my Worgen I have because of Gilnean lore, rather than because they’re werewolves. They’re a Houndmaster who fights alongside a pack of hunting dogs, and a druid who actually hates the curse put upon her, and tries to hide her state from others.

Worgen start with a Top Hat. All the reason I need to make one - if I ever get around to making another one.

culture? what culture they have about an hour of starting zone quests that don’t really give them much and since then they’ve been the loser friend couch surfing from one city to another. accent =/= culture.

OMG Puppy!! Yelp Yelp Yelp!!

You rang? Werewolf of course. I just wish Worgen could be set to either Auto human or Auto werewolf form and in the former case they’d change back to human form after a fight

There’s more to Gilneas than just the starting zone. The country’s existed in lore since Warcraft II, after all.

lore they tossed out the window, they were hardly developed back then either way but Genn was supposed to an isolationist Jerk off, but now they just turned him into Anduin’s lap dog, he spends most his time shouting dramatically at the Wrynn family or Slyvanas.

I’m jobless and I got kicked out because I couldn’t pay rent, no need to attack me like that

Being a house maid and a cat carer isn’t a loser.

I just wanted to be a werewolf, which was why the heritage armor was super disappointing, both the appearance and the quest. I was annoyed at this whole “Gilneans before Worgens” thing. We have enough humans and human culture in the Alliance. She should have taken the curse =/

I really like Gilnean architecture and aesthetics, as well as the worgen druids’ background as harvest witches prior to the curse. The anchor for me, though, is that worgen are still humans at the core and can shift back and forth. If they didn’t have human form anymore, I probably wouldn’t play one since I’m not a fan of pure anthropomorphic races.
