Worgen Monks

Werewolf monks please! Just because someone is a Worgen doesnt mean they cant find their inner serenity. And im sure enough time has passed that a newer generation of Worgens are coming of age and have learned the ways of the Monk

I agree and here is why…

Worgen Monks

Justification:

Much like how worgen druids start as harvest witches and then become druids, I feel worgens can start as brawlers (after all Queens rules boxing aka modern boxing was invented in England) and become monks via the wall collapse and meeting a pandaren (just a random trainer in the second village players enter). This is also supported by Darius Crowley being a brawler during the prison break. He literally beats down alpha worgen with his hands and a stick.

Counter Claims:

Time Locked Zone,
This has never made sense due to both Bloodelf and Draenei starting zone also being time locked but their monk trainers have been added after the fact. Some people falsely claim those zones have been updated but this is sadly not true. In the Draenei zone for instance the monk trainer “Mojo Stormstout” is quoted as saying “I’m just walking along, when suddenly…BAM mimcks and explosion with his hands when the exodar crashed”. Monks officially have be retconned into Draenei lore from the start.

The same thing occurs with “Pao” for the blood elf’s. A retcon to make monks possible for those time locked zones.

The monk animations do not work on worgen models.

The thing is anyone who knows about rigging a model can quickly tell you that 8 bit Mario can even be set up to do monk animations. Besides the work is already done in game. Just us an image swap or a potion of illusion into a worgen and see for yourself. Not to mention anyone can use in game file model viewer to see for themselves.

Monks are all about peace and can’t be rage/cursed.

This is countered by the quests for becoming a worgen. You literally have to finish the quest that makes you at peace with yourself. You control the beast. The only reason in lore that you turn into a worgen is because the form is superior in combat vs a human body. This is to make you (the worgen) more combat effective.

The quest “neither human nor beast” literally says “Drink from the waters of Tal’doren and make peace with yourself” as a reward you gain mastery over the beast and change on command. No longer a raging beast.

Monks are only good and worgen are cursed evil.

Again this is not true. Monks are balanced. They are both good and bad. Light and Dark. Good and Evil. And in equal parts. In the closed testing for MoP monks we had 2 dark chi and 2 light chi and we had to maintain balance with them to use our moves. Black out kick (dark chi) Rising Sun kick (light chi) etc. This was dropped for a more practical system we have today but the names where kept to remind all monks we are both dark and light chi… we are balance.

Fast forward to 35minutes and 22 seconds

In closing we can all agree this is an opportunity for more player choice.

I absolutely agree I want Worgen monks. But the lore does have one thing going against it.

You start your life as a Worgen before the cataclysm, that’s still the Worgen starting area, and there are no monk trainers there, we haven’t discovered pandaria yet. The the gilnaes wall s also still standing, making getting into the city very difficult.

I do like the idea of them being brawlers that later learned to harness it though.

I want Worgen monks as bad as I want pandaren druids

I was thinking about the timeframe also, but the worgen heritage armor quest is all about genn’s daughter wanting to get bitten and be turned into a worgen. So its possible for a current monk to turn into a worgen, but they would need their own scenario unfortunately which is verly unlikely to happen. Or just start off at level 20 like an allied race cause who cares really

Are you forgetting how 1-10 leveling will be?
Everyone can choose to start on that starter island meaning we might see goblin and worgen monks

I feel that having a werewolf race in wow and not having the only bare fist class available to it being a waste. Would love to see Worgen Monks, and with a special fists of fury animation where they just use their claws like a mad beast.

They already have special animations with fist weapons equipped but at this point no Worgen classes use fist weapons.

Worgen models work just fine for monk animations too. When questing through Darkshire some of the mobs can turn you into a Worgen, and boom everything still works perfectly.

Outlaw rogue. Prot warrior.

Guys remember lvl squish, we may get goblin and worgen monk.

I did forget about Outlaw, I thought they only used swords and such.

Arms Warriors CAN but there are no STR Fist weapons in this expansion so they shouldn’t.

Prot warrior is the only warrior spec with 1handers. They can tmog fist on top of any 1h sword/mace/axe

My mistake I meant prot, I have no idea why i typed arms.

That threw me off lol

Worgens are my favorite race in the game, but having access to only two healing classes really puts a damper on my ability to play them when certain arena comps require me to swap to another healer.

Monks would make the most sense, it should be like the warrior, hunter and dk classes where it’s just available to all races. The only other option that would make sense is paladin, since The Cathedral of Holy Light is the main fixture in the middle of the city.

Hmmm, can Worgen not be priests also? Guess that means Gilneans werent really followers of the light. But i can see that now that they are refuges in Stormwind, some miggt pick it up. But, that even might take some time. Would be cool though

Worgens can definitly be priests, and they were definitly followers of the light, one of the largest buildings and the location of the climax of the worgen starting zone takes place in The Cathedral of the Holy Light

Can we get Lightforged Monks first? I’d gladly pay for a race change to Worgen but it doesn’t make sense at all why we can’t have Lf monks. That’s all I’m saying.

Why would a race that’s been out for less than one expansion jump the line for a new class in front of a race that’s been around for over a decade? Especially since you can already be a Draenei monk, where the difference in aesthetic is a little bit of gold trim and a less grating voice.
