Exactly.
I wasnt super into the mage tower challenge until I started doing it. And there were many challenges I completed because I knew they were limited time offerings!
I’m thankful I did them because I learned some about classes and how to push them that much further.
I wouldnt have completed these challenges without the time limited factor or in many cases because I HAD TO have the cosmetics.

In this case they are mutually exclusive. The game with the supposedly cool cosmetic has (in my opinion) worse game feel, combat and abilities felt awful to use, and (objectively) awful performance. DirectX9 in 2021 is not just sad, it’s pathetic and an absolute failure on the part of Arenanet.

It is entirely possible to produce customization of this extent in Wow if the designers deem it worth it. It is not a cost or detriment to the actual game play.
I understand your point - many aspects of gw2 are shallow.
But what value does it have in this discussion? It doesnt. Art/gameplay are different teams.
Limited time offerings absolutely blow.

I still beat myself over not going for the challange mode transmog back in mop, even thought I played the heck out of that expansion. 
Got all the fancy dungeon teleports except for two of the dungeons, so was 2 dungeons away from getting it. D:

With this kind of game and people not always being able to play due to real life and such, having things as limited time just sucks.
There was another game that recently had a test for an event, by the time I was able to get on and give it a try, it was already over. Good thing it was just a test, but still felt bad.

And you are not the only one. Even though things are getting colder and more disheartening about the choices made for Warcraft, more customizations are desirable for a large number of people.
And the suggestions for customizations in this megathread, combine many of the possibilities that meet the wishes of players who use worgen.

Meanwhile in FFXIV, the devs gave the players exactly what they had been asking for for the longest time. I bold exactly because this is something that Blizzard tends to not do. When they do give us a bone, it’s half-arsed and not what we’ve been wanting. (Void elves anyone? Char customization as a whole? No?)
If only Blizz Devs shared the same heart and passion to our community, actually listening and acknowledging our feedback, even if we are the casual player.

The dream is to have as many customizations on worgens as night elves have. Seriously, Blizzard says they are fine with what they gave everyone, yet here we are extremely shafted to the side. Give us our customizations Blizzard!
Give us tails, actual hair styles, up right ears, up right male worgens, wolf form for druids, face shapes, jewelry, necklaces. Worgens need more options!

Really, they tried to do a lot to get their audience excited.
Housing system in the new area, not a new class but two for the new expansion, came male (something that was very much requested by the players) and soon the female version of Hrothgar, which will not yet be present because there has not yet been time to add them in the game. And they still have the humility to apologize for this delay.
Even though no one was waiting.
The people at Square / Enix want fans to live a constant honeymoon with them, that players feel that their time in the game is being used by them and not the other way around.
Among other things, which undermine the prestige and appreciation of the game a little every day.
Much of the things that are available in FFXIV, are simple things to do, such as those that give cosmetic options.
BfA and Shadowlands could have been much less disappointing if they had invested in cosmetic options for all races and not just for the vast majority of orcs and blood elves.
I am not envying that other races have had the customizations they wanted.
I just wish that all races had made the same effort when working on this theme.
Worgen need a change of posture, hairstyles for the wild form, correction for the height described in the lore, tatoos, more lupine ear options, more color options for our hair and a tail.
And as cosmetic options, they should be optional so that everyone can choose which one to use or keep.

They need scars separated from faces and in larger variety.
The fact that every player Worgen was clawed or bitten means they are an essential part of their story as well. So they should have the option.

Exactly!
Some could be on the shoulders, chest, back, arms or legs.
In the quest in Gilneas, the player character is bitten on the arm, before the fall of the city.
Sometimes I think the art team is kept under tight control, so as not to overdo the resources used.
