Seems more sensible to have a werewolf and dragon class that is available to all races, than this arbitrary race restriction. There are dragons with tauren and gnome forms. Dragon humanoid forms are supposed to make them inconspicuous in order to blend in with society. They shouldn’t have scales. Lady Prestor didn’t have scales on her face when she infiltrated Stormwind.
There was a model with no scales on the shoulders, so it’s probs an option to have no scales all together.
Word, im just getting major female worgen vibes from them. wouldnt be surprised if they change appearance in the months leading up to dragonflight. And I was one of those folks that were hyped for a dragon class too.
And I only mentioned worgen because I’ve seen it implemented beautifully on private servers as a class. There was a Son of Arugal class in WoW Ascension that was a bloodmage that built up rage with spells to transform into a Worgen for melee damage.
So far we have seen that dragons can only be human and Tauren outside of their dragon forms. That explains why they can’t be other races except Tauren.
Wait chrome is a dragon, add gnomes too
Thats what im sayin!! this whole dragon class thing makes wayyyy more sense as a class that any race, or perhaps only Azerothian races can play. And I get that it’s too late for Worgen but they should’ve been done like this too. Check out Son of Arugal - Conquest of Azeroth
We’ve also seen Night Elf, High Elf, Half Elf… apparently there was one that was a Goblin mentioned in a story somewhere. Dragons choose the race they want to represent.
We have also seen a troll and goblin.
Rhea is a goblin, we also had the bronze who helped Garrosh turn into a blood elf. Dragons can turn into whatever they want per books but we aren’t getting dragons but rather Dracthyr which are different. As different as a wolf and a werewolf- a hybrid of mortals and dragons.
My guess is that they can take any form, but they prefer non-diseased Azerothian races. So if there’s a restriction maybe just no Orcs, Undead, Draenei, Worgen
It goes further, Alex once changed into a tree, so they can even be non-sentient life.
xD would go great with lumberjack profession
What difference would it make? They’d just be limited to humans and blood elves then like a slightly different demon hunter.
You need to get caught up on dragon lore. Dragonkin can take any form they wish. Your human/blood elf restriction is a lore asspull. Dragons in the lore have taken the forms of every Azerothian race. Blizzard simply doesn’t know their lore or is rewriting dragon lore mechanics to explain away their lack of customization options for their new class.
I’m not talking about lore, I’m talking about the reality of what design choices and corner cutting would take place.
Fair point, then let’s talk about cutting corners. They wasted their time adding scale/horn options to humans/elves when dragon humanoid forms in lore don’t even have such features. It would be cutting corners to ditch the unique humanoid features entirely and just make Evoker a class. Use the normal race customization features. Dragons use humanoid forms to be inconspicuous and blend in with society. The easiest and most lore-friendly thing Blizzard can do is ditch the colorful furry-inspired human forms and let this new class be any race. It would be less effort on their part while satisfying the fans.
They added a dragon class but you can’t rp as Chromie or Ironhorn or anything other than a weird human with scales which there is no precedent for.
I would much prefer that because not only are the visage forms really jarringly different from each other, they are overdesigned. It’d honestly be better to just let you sub in as any baseline race instead. And it’s not like Blizz is going to be making any money off Evokers race changing already that they might as well allow it.
Alexstrasza and Ysera both have big horns in their visage form. Nozdormu has massive spikes sticking out of his spine, and also scales maybe (hard to tell if it’s a clothing choice or part of him), in his visage form.
It’s not necessarily about being inconspicuous. It’s meant to “allow them to see the world as the young races do.”
Yes, and when Chromie asked Onyxia about it she said she chose her visage to control and manipulate mortals. Probably wouldn’t have been as successful if she had scales on her face.
Would be nice to be a worgen night elf than human.
You bring up a solid point, but hear me out.
Blizzard should do both. They should allow this class to be every race (except maybe undead/worgen) and STILL have new humanoid horn/scale features for each race. That would be the non lazy thing to do. But if they are really that strapped on development time this far off from release date, I’d rather scrap all new humanoid customization in favor of more open race options. Hopefully this clears up my take here.
