With the time skip, albeit a short one, do you think we will get any hint on if worgen age differently?
I have always assumed with their connection to Elune and Goldrinn their curse affected their age somewhat. How much it affects their aging we don’t really know, it could be anything from they age slightly slower to they are immortal.
The only thing regarding age we know about worgen is that in worgen form they don’t feel the effects of old age, like Genn, he can fight with the strength and vigor of someone who is in their physical prime. But that doesn’t tell us anything about if they age at a different rate.
So I hope we get some lore on this in Dragonflight, though doubt we will.
Sort of reminds me of a story about the Hulk. It has been a while, but i think Bruce Banner was about to die just of old age, and the Hulk took over for the last time, because it knew it would die as well. Or something.
Makes me wonder if Worgen are sort of like that. Like - if Human Genn was about to die of old age, would the Worgen take over completely?
Whoa… that’s an interesting concept and lowkey scary. That would be an interesting take on worgen for sure.
It also helps solve the issue of worgen dying out. Because Blizzard decided to go the route of having Tess Greymane say, “The worgen curse needs to die out with this generation” so I wonder if worgen are immortal or age slower and that would mean they will be around longer and won’t just “die out”. Or like you said, once the human side dies all that’s left is the worgen side and that lives on.
We do know. Genn Greymane is a perfect example. He’s a human in his 70s, probably closer to 80s. Thanks to the curse he’s a man/worgen who looks 50s with a body of 30-year-old. I imagine the curse slows aging and reverses it a bit. Compared to the other curses on Azeroth for a human, being a worgen has very little downsides.
He should be pushing late 70s-80s, and his face looks like that of a man in his 50s, but if you remember the Legion cinematic in Stormheim when he’s shirtless. Greymane’s got a body that puts most guys in their 30s to shame. When I am shirtless, I know I don’t have the sixpack and muscles that old Greymane is sporting.
I seem to recall that this was mentioned in Wolfheart, that Genn doesn’t feel his years when in worgen form. Could be wrong though. But he is definitely very fit for his age.
As for downsides I agree, there aren’t many unless you count short temper and being prone to, well, violence- up to the point where rage and primal instincts will erase your humanity and all its rules and restrictions.
You are correct, Genn does mention he does not feel the effects of his age while in human form. He feels like he is in his physical prime again. Which is interesting because its only on his human form.
But the book doesn’t mention anything about worgen aging specifically which is unfortunate.
I don’t think it would. Given that in contrast, Bruce and the Hulk are considered separate characters. Even though they occupy the same body. Meanwhile Genn is still Genn whether he is in his worgan or human form.
Depends on how you define downside. Having to relieve yourself at every tree. Everytime you see a cat your compelled to chase it. I mean I feel bad for worgen hunters, every time they shoot an arrow they need to go “fetch” it. Or being in a medieval city during the summer with a heightened sense of smell? I imagine it’s not a bed of roses.
It really hit me today that it’s been 12 years since the Gilneans were attacked by the worgen and infected. And 15 years since the worgen came to Azeroth.
Honestly that’s a long time, people can change a lot in that time. I think it would be cool if Blizzard would give us something regarding worgen aging.
Seriously, do they age like normal? Do they age slower? Do they age at all? I hope we get to see something about this in Dragonflight at some point, even if it’s a side quest or a random text line an NPC mentions you can find.
I really really wish they would give the Worgen something (and tails) because I think at this point they have probably the least lore in-game besides Vulpera.
