Well edit all you like, but it won’t save your action bar 1, action bar 2, and action bar 3, or where you move the chat box. I’ve disabled all add-ons. If you log out and log right back in. It is where they were when you started. It is a bug.

Had the exact same issue with the new UI where I made it how I want it on one character, saved it as a preset, logged onto another character just for the preset to not load exactly how I set it to, then going back to my original character just for it to be messed up again…

I’ve spent probably a total of 40 minutes setting up two different UIs just to log out, log back in and find they were reset and the profiles were gone. Very frustrating.

Saving fix for some people:
Disable your addons and see if it’ll let you save your edits then. There are some addons that are making the save impossible.

Interface → Names has regularly reset my “Always Show Nameplates” and “Friendly Players” throughout all of Shadowlands. For some reason they made a change to the persistence of certain settings at some point.

Zero issues here have made a few UI setups, saved them all been signed out and back in.
Been running with disabled addons since I logged in with the exception of Raider IO, DBM, and Tom Tom.
User Kiyaki posted a workaround fix. Delete your WTF and Cache folders. Working for me now.

Thank you. I will try this. When I delete those, do I have to create backups of them or how does that work?
Does that delete your previous UI loadouts though? it probably does, which would be important for people to know before wiping them. Would only suggest this for people who have had no luck saving a UI loadout at all.

I don’t think so. The game will just regenerate the folders when you start it up. It’ll act as though you are launching the game for the first time after patching.
As someone else mentioned, delete your WTF, Cache and Interface folders. (save copies first or just mark them as “old”) If that doesn’t work, run a scan and repair.
It might. I couldn’t save loadouts to begin with.
I deleted the folders, logged back in - created the profile again and redid the entire UI (zero addons installed)… relogged… profile is saved but bars, maps, etc are all over the place. Didn’t save the actual layout.

Don’t edit your UI.
Then you won’t have to save it.

Happening to me as well and wasted hours…
Then I started to make one change → log out → next change… and so on. Sometimes the small changes will save.
I notice the change would reset to a previous state each time I resize/move the chat box.

Deleting WTF and Cache fixed it for me.
I wonder what is causing this…
As I could import layouts and save major changes without issues…
Maybe because I deleted my addons, cache and WTF folder before starting WoW today
Exactly the same experience for my son and me last night.
Interestingly, my wife didn’t have the problem, but she made her UI edits character-specific by selecting the check box and also never changed characters.
Hopefully; ly they get this figured out fast, as I am excited about the changes, but if I can’t set up a “default” starting point for my many characters, there is simply no point in investing time in the system as it stands.
