Wonder why they made the Draenei Earth totem yellow instead of green

Originally it was green colored like all other shaman Earth Totems. But when they updated the visuals, they changed it to Yellow. I’m just curious as to why. Is it because to the Draenei, green is associated with Fel?

Idk if there’s a justifiable lore reason to do that if draenei can already be eredar. Why would they have an issue with a “fel” related totem?

Draenei are from another planet. Maybe they just have different color associations when it comes to the elements.

So are Orcs and yet they have Green colored Earth Totems too

Right, but Draenei are from a different different planet.

The updated draenei totems applied a brighter light emanating from the totems themselves. It could just be that the original color mixed with this light made the original green totem look too similar to the blue water totem (or is that the air totem?). They may have needed a more dramatic color shift to differentiate between the two.

shrug maybe. It’s just one of those weird little things. Doesn’t effect gameplay in the slightest yet my idiot self picks up on it.

Huh, looked yellow to me. maybe it’s my settings or something.

Maybe the grass of their homeworld was actually yellow. And when telling tales of their land, they never thought to make note of the difference in colour because, like in Japanese but for just the Draenei, their color for yellow is also their color for green since you need green to get yellow? In Japanese the color green and blue are the same word.

So when they tell tales of their world and their grass, to them yellow and green are the same thing so they use the same word in our languages so people are always visualizing the grass as green when it should be yellow, in our language.

Perhaps it’s time and location? I am having trouble hunting yellow totems so I can overlook something. :flashlight::robot:

The photo of the totems on Wowpedia also looked yellow, must just be a lighting thing.

Blue is “aoi” and green is “midori.”

Earthshock is yellow

Maybe the color balance of your monitor is more towards Warm(Yellow).

I know I have the night mode enabled on all my devices which reduces the blue light during the evening. This mode effectively just changes the white balance to warm so everything has a yellow tint to it.

In-game lighting and monitor settings can cause colors to not appear as you’d think they should. A cooler setting on your monitor will result in different colors than a hotter setting. When you shop online and order something with a color you really like, but when you get it you find the color is way off, that may very well be the culprit. Maybe try calibrating your monitor color settings? I sometimes run brighter than what’s normal because I really don’t like dark areas where I can’t see well. I know my colors are off in that case.

From what I know, air is usually associated with yellow so I’m rather surprised they made it a bluish tone instead making it close to water. Then I was surprised they didn’t make earth brown because dirt, but whatever. A totem’s a totem. If it works, it could be a that blue and white cube and the only reason to care would be for style.

Draenei are green/yellow colorblind

So they look the same to them

Flip that

To be honest, now that it’s being brought up, it kinda feels like they should be yellow, since the “Earth” Shaman interact with is typically of the “raw boulder chunks” variety instead of the “lush verdant forest” brand.
