Garrosh was weaker then Arthas, why bring back a weak minded orc.

Cataclysm-Garrosh was amazing. He actually DID things instead of talking about them. Theramore was a threat? Nuke it. Ashenvale is a souce of wood? Conquer it. Greymane people decided to show their heads? Make Sylvanas action to stop them. He was real leader.
Then they ruined him.

In life Nathanos is actually a pretty interesting character
My issue that in death he seems to have retained none of his talents from life. In life he was the only human ever to make the elven rank of ranger. A testimony to his skills. But they never show that. They just make him a mouth
Have you ever played other MMORPGs?
Without factions, you would still be the Orc with the same backstory. You might be friendly with trolls and able to enter their cities. You might be KOS (Kill on sight) by humans.
Tauren would mistrust forsaken instead of being best buds. Tauren could prove themselves by going out and killing thousands of gnolls and get to me neutral to humans but never fully trusted.
No one would be forced to follow Sylvanas or Nathanos because they wanna be a cow or a goblin. Orcs could follow an honorable leader like Thralls horde and not be shoehorned into the demon blood drinking Horde of the past.
If there were no factions but actual racial ties you would have tremendously more freedom with your character.

The only Nathanos depth I want to explore is how far my sword goes through it before it exits the back.
Seriously, he’s annoying. If this game had true free-will I would have challenged him and/or insulted him at every turn for how he talks down to those around him.

Why it’s a bad thing? Do you want literally every character to lick your boots and call greatest and most amazing hero of azeroth? He WAS UNIQUE
He may have done things but he got corrupted by and old god beat up by a few nerds, got all mad went to a different time line got that home ransacked as well so hes 2 for 2 then got beat up in a 1v1 where arms wars could end people the second they reached 20%. Then we have the mad lad arthas who was trully a good leader and got crap done. We need leaders like arthas even if he was whining alot and was in love with a pony. Garrosh got smacked Arthad smacked us and only got luled from a lazy ret pally.
The only depth Nathanos should ever get.

That’s how blizzard ruin all good characters. Fandral? No he’s insane. Garrosh? No he’s corrupted. Sylvanas? No she’s whatever they’re doing to her. Vol’jin and Varian? Lol, kill them. Thrall? he’s human now. Everyone is ruined

I’ve played other MMOs and I can safely say, they all died(*) because they don’t have any communities or any interest stories to tell, or are just money-grabs. Final Fantasy Online? Terrible game. Albion Online? Boring, terrible. Runescape? Pretty good actually. Runescape has communities for basically everything skill and thing in-game. It is easy to make friends and keep friends in Runescape.
If you were an orc without a faction and were still KoS by humans, then removing factions did nothing but kill the game’s many faction-based communities.
And no? Now you have the same amount of freedom since you’re still KoS by former Alliance races? That wouldn’t fix anything and would defeat the entire purpose of removing factions in the first place.

Hopefully when someone finally kills Sylvanas and loots her, She’ll drop Nathanos as a battle pet.
EQ (you know the game this game copied and made easy) is still alive and works just like this.
Ill put it this way, which is better for you:
One faction capital. One stereotypical trope for each faction. No deviation allowed. A couple of skins for races but no actual differences between them because faction > race
or
A capital city for each race (like we had at launch). Each race having its own unique identity. Races allowed to be different than each other and have different motivations. Each race has its own unique story because race > faction.
We are heading towards the first with the new level squish pushing people into the main faction hub and the destruction of the existing racial hubs Like Darnassus and Undercity.
I keep each one of my characters in their racial city. I keep AR in their respective starting zones. The racial RP piece is incredibly important to me. The faction piece gets in the way.
My Tauren druid would fit better with a Night Elf druid than a Forsaken. It was the BEST part of Legion
Good character’s have to die to move the story along, if Varian didn’t bfa wouldnt have happened or at the start when anduin was face to face with syl he would have not even hesitated and killed her. Also Thrall has legit always been human like. He is a very well written with the exception of dragon soul the anime. Hes still a shaman just more warrioresk now.

Since Anduin is worst character that was ever written… i’d like him to die over Varian. Imagine Varian losing his moral compas and going all out.
But Anduins not imo ofc, ill give my reason why after i hear the reason you believe him to be badly written.
