I am not sure about PvP servers, but I am sure that WM killed Emerald Dream(RP-PvP).
Maybe blizzard should have enabled that option of WM only for PvE servers and keep the PvP servers as they were ?

RP servers arenât doomed by WM they are doomed by being sharded with only other RP servers.
This means Moonglade actually causes an Alliance favored population despite the WM bonuses applying regionally.
As for the WM On/Off not showing players, maybe in cities that should be changed. However seeing a player out and about thatâs untargetable with how faction tagging works would be sort of convoluted and jarring.
I am not speaking only about RP servers, and EM is a special case because it was a PvP sever as well. I remember it being full of people, now you go to SW and it is empty. None of the servers I play are like that.
It wasnât exactly -just- Warmode that gutted ED. It was Warmode with the combination of sharding, CRZ, and the emergent LFRWPvP âcultureâ that all that crap created.
Emerald Dreamâs WPvP thrived because of the server community⊠the intra-guild rivalries, the intra-player rivalries, and âwarsâ that had been waged over multiple expacs.
Warmode, sharding, CRZ, LFG⊠That all lead to the destruction of the server community and all the social facets that drove WPvP on the server.
Much of EDâ s old-guard is on Classic now⊠where it is still possible to foster and keep a server community.

Role play PVP servers instantly became role play servers, so yeah it doomed servers like Emerald Dream.
Plus, the special rule sets for role play servers too regarding WM.
Make a char and go to ED to see by yourself.
Yes that is the other factor as well.
Many ED players are playing classic for world PVP. And the remaining ED players that remain on retail have moved over to WRA.
Well said. Itâs sad to see but ED just pales in comparison to how it was before. Iâd kill to go back to the MoP days.
EDs PvP community died with WM.
The rp community died with Classic.
WM was doomed from the get-go because the people who joined pvp servers originally, they arenât sharded together, so if a pvper turns on war mode on the alliance side, they will most of the time be solo because most alliance players keep warmode off
I know Blizzard mentioned some server merger stuff at Blizzcon, really want to hear more about that. Kinda hoping that January comes with a new Q&A or Dev Talk type video.

Emerald Dream is just Grobbulus now.
I didnât think ED was CRZâed with anyone else. Iâve leveled a bunch of toons on that server and hardly ever saw anyone in the world. If it was CRZâed then I would have seen people leveling on other servers.
