Wjy Arthas makes the most sense as The Jailer

I know. Blizz has stated Arthas is not The Jailer but he does make the most sense when you stop and think about it.

When he died, he said all he sees is black. We can now presume this refers to The Maw which, prior to Arthas’ entrance had to have had a Jailer. But what if there is a “sucession” of some kind and the previous Jailer wanted to quit? Who else would be qualified for the job? And what better way to write Sylvannas out without some cheesey “redemption arc” or straight up killing her off?

In this scenario, Arthas is fully aware of Sylvannas’ attempts at global annihilation. So he reaches out to her in the guise of the Jailer and leads her down the path of Snidely Whiplash villany.

However, what Arthas TRULY wants is to remove Sylvannas from the chessboard as she is simply too powerful.

So he gets with Bwonswamdi and convinces the Loa that Vol’jin must be a sacrifice to get rid of Sylvannas (I seem to recall a “greater power” was mentioned as well as Vol’jin having a higher purpose). In addition, he also reaches out to Bolvar who agrees to tank the Sylvannas fight to open the portal to the Shadowlands where Arthas can finally lure Sylvannas into the maw and trap her there.

After which, Arthas is redeemed but still must remain in the Maw as a prisoner and appoints Vol’jin as the NEW Jailer.

Sure, it’s a bit loose but makes sense. At least to me.

Years back there was an hour show called Dead Like Me. I loved that show.
Clever, interesting, intriguing, smart, funny, it had it all. The main characters were all dead but once upon their deaths they were each recruited into service for the afterlife.

None of them knew why they were there, how long they were supposed to do their jobs or where the souls they freed went.

In this game we get to see a part of the afterlife. I’ve long thought that Sylvanas’ glimpse into the other side was too brief and she didn’t see enough.
What she did see scared her so bad she kept hanging on, doing dumb stuff and overstayed her welcome.

So Idk, Huggy. Maybe something like what you’ve written will come about. Maybe not.
Whatever does come about I’m hoping will tie things that have happened together, giving them some logic because right now I have no idea why we burned that tree.

Arthas doesn’t predate the titans so he cannot be the jailor.

The only thing that makes sense given the current writing style is for Sylvanas to do whatever she wants and the only important people playing major roles to be like…Tyrande and maybe Jaina…

I’m telling you, it Leoric. Just look at him. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The Jailer looks like a Troll to me.

Look at the still from the end of the cinematic where Syl is flying up surrounded by Valkyr with him in the background. You can see his arms, they are skinny just like a male jungle Troll and his shoulders are almost even with his eyes. The silhouette is just about identical to that of a male jungle Troll squatting in his sitting position with his forearms resting on his thighs.

ARTHAS I dont think cares about that sort of stuff.
THE LICH KING would.
When The Lich King was taken down, we free’d Arthas from his grasp. Arthas became actual arthas again until he finally died.
I don’t think Arthas himself wants anything to do with dead (or undead) stuff any more. I also don’t think he really cares anything about Sylvannas. That was her VS Lich King Arthas, not Arthas Arthas.
Pretty sure Arthas himself really doesnt have any beef with Sylvannas.

I much prefer him being an ancient character that we’ve never seen before. Having some random mortal whose time alive (and undead) was barely a tick mark on the lifespan of the universe being a master of the very cosmic workings of death seems dumb to me.

Yeah Arthas was evil but he was no where near enough of a force to be the evil god of death itself. How they have it set up is good IMO.

Would make the most sense since we’re Azeroth’s native species.

Of course, who knows if this particular Shadowlands is native to Azeroth only. I wonder if Draenor had a different one.

Technically they said he’s a character we haven’t seen yet.

It’s why most people think it’s Mue’zhala, the other Loa of Death. The only thing Bwomsamdi is scared of. We know from past lore that he rules the Shadowlands, and that he is immensely powerful. Yet we haven’t heard anything about him.

From my understanding and what they show this seems to be the case. The shadowlands is like the Twisting Neither, an alternate reality that spans the universe, the part we go to is Azeroth’s mirror, Dreanor would have its own mirror.

I know it’s wishful thinking, but I would love to see that. I actually love Outlands/Draenor. I always thought if they ran out of space on Azeroth (which frankly they seem to have) there should be plenty of continents still left on Draenor. Open that portal back up!

I honestly think it’s one of the first Shades.

HUGGY!

Voljin as the jailer after??? Hahahahahaha

Voljin is the weakest, most over hyped, useless character WoW had ever seen. Just forget voljin and leg him drift into the wind

Arthas actually being the jailer would rock. Sylvanis doesn’t k kw it but finds out she’s been serving arthas again but this time intentionally and she goes nuts, cries, and he murders her. No more Sylvanis thank God.

I mean, the only reason she becomes too powerful is because of her deal with the Jailer.

The jailer could be Weird Al with a scratchy throat…hic!

The cinematic showed it as an overweight slob though so it doesnt seem like a normal person we know.
