Do you feel like WoW has taken something from you in life you’ll never get back? A different hobby? A marriage that worked out? A Tesla?
I always think about the 10000000s of hours I’ve put into this game.
I don’t know why I didn’t stop in Cata like everyone else… Addiction is real this game has a grip on the best of us.
I love you all remember that you are likely able to learn a powerful new skill irl or go on an actual quest irl but you won’t because your still hooked to that game everyone still questions why you play.

I’d be so strong. Just absolutely massive.
Oh for real. I wish I had time to get back into drawing. I did it all the time as a kid before pressure from my parents put an end to artistic pursuits in high school. Now I get comments from them remarking on how good I was at drawing and should have stuck with it. Thanks, guys!

You could also:
Teach a yoga course to the elderly.
Know bird calling on an advanced level.
Go gem mining with the neighborhood kids.
Own a party bus.
Know how to fold a fitted blanket.
You could change a life.
This game helped me when I lost my last nut. (went bonkers) It was overdue.
Anyway, I got through it and am back to being myself only much more calm. WoW helped in that it gave me something to do, other players were usually good company (just having them around) and these forums were a lot of fun back then.
Plus the game is fun for the most part and it’s always a beautiful place to escape to so there’s that.
Now could I blame WoW or any other game/person/pet/rock/tree/etc… ad nauseum for my not having certain things in life?
Sure but that wouldn’t be fair.
Sometimes things happen that we don’t expect nor plan for and some of these things can drastically alter your life path.
That doesn’t mean it has to be all crappy and a tragedy. Tragedies get boring quick so it’s always a good idea to get over it as fast as possible, use what you got and see what you can do.
After all, none of us are here forever. We’re all just passing through but even though that’s true, what we do here is important.
We’re important too.
May not seem like it, but that’s very true. Be well.

Probably the same place, but with other games taking up more time.

I probably would have a more normal schedule and playing other games. Maybe my ex would still be around because I would be more focused on what she was doing and delt with the situation sooner. Really, though my pre-WOW days were pretty crazy and I could have ended up like some of the other people I hung out with.

Probably in a happier place playing better games.
Everquest, probably. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. I still go back every couple of years and run my Necromancer around some of my favorite old haunts. I do the same with WoW once or twice a year, sometimes less.
MoP broke my addiction to WoW. During that time I played Planetside 2, Aion, Elder Scrolls Online just came out and had a good 8 months on that before I got bored. Today I still play Elder Scrolls Online, but mostly for companions and decorating a dozen homes; some are already maxed out.
Probably in the same place as I am now, just without WOW.
No game has any control over me.
About $50,000 richer and probably less interested in video games.
Toss up between exactly where I am now but on console instead of PC (WoW is what dragged me to PC) or having a healthy hobby in programming/game dev and/or art. The former I backed away from after realizing how crappy actual jobs in that field would be, the latter I just never put enough time into.
I could see myself putting more time into either one of those as hobbies if I didn’t sink so much of my time into WoW.
My playtime these days is nothing crazy but those first 2 and a half expansions? My god.

still gaming for favorite pastime. There was this prediction long ago before crypto that games will always be better because games are the only true consumers of ever increasing computing power in advancing computer capabilities
i had interest in easy money gambling, but i found betting and casino boring and turn out to be hard to win
If you are addiected to WOW
it does not mean that WOW is that good,
it is just an intermediary answer (like any other substances) to your social environment/ circumstances.
Unlikely to have something massively different instead of playing this specific product, because playing WOW was never the root cause of the issue to begin with.

If it wasn’t for wow I probably would have ended up a runescaper. shudders
IDK, probably discovering something that doesn’t exist or giving a monkey a shower.

Without WoW I played Hearthstone up until a year ago. I’ve also played Minecraft and various Nintendo Switch and Steam games.
I quit WoW after Legion.
Time takes all. Even something like a hobby or an addiction can eventually wither. Without wow, I may have given up hope on MMOs, and maybe even other digital tech like cellphones and the internet. I used wow to meet people “on the internet” after I played other MMOS. Nowadays it provides nostalgia, but I feel like I grew something with it and regretting it and replacing it with success theories doesn’t fix you’r life.
