With how much gold is being bought it's no wonder why they don't want a reset

They paid cold hard cash for that gold, i’d be upset too if a few grand was just lost like that.

EDIT: To clarify this is only speaking of a gold reset, blizzard should introduce a few “fresh” servers like they did in vanilla(like Nazgrel and a few others were) and progress the rest.

Ah yes, anyone who doesn’t want a reset bought several grand worth of gold.

Brilliant assessment.

I’m gonna go ahead and assume that someone who spent few grands on pixel … temporary pixels… have either so much disposable income he don’t care about few grands, or have addiction issues and can’t control himself anyway.

As weird as it sounds… some people enjoy reclearing naxx over and over and over with their 5 fully-geared alts.

I don’t get them either.

I wish they did a ban wave of those who bought gold right before releasing Naxx.

Would have been the best entertainment ever. It seems as a very high % of the player base have and still buy gold. Lot of people openly admit it.

Got a better explanation for why people want to preserve and advance an economy so blown out it’s beginning to resemble retail’s?

Every single one of them insists on being able to bring their gold with them. Even if you say “you can copy your character but your gold stays behind or you can only bring X amount” the answer is always the same.

I eArNeD iT I DeSeRvE tO bRiNg It WiTh Me!

The gold is always the sticking point. If it were that easy to farm legit, they’d just do it again. Hell it’s easier to farm gold in TBC than it ever was in vanilla so they’d get it back even faster!

But nope, they INSIST on bringing their hundreds of thousands of gold with them. In order for there to be that level of attachment to pixels… They have to have a pricetag. It’s a dead giveaway that the people who insist on bringing all their gold into TBC bought it.

Across my classic alts I’ve got close to 6,000 gold that I made legit from lasher farming. I put in the hours to get it by hand, selling the BoEs, Essences and Herbs as I got them. I am 100% willing to sacrifice that gold or leave it in Classic in order to ensure TBC’s economy isn’t blown completely out on day 1.

When you’re ready to start on a more sane premise than “everyone who doesn’t want a reset spent thousands of dollars buying gold,” I’ll respond.

You just did respond though…

You can use your noggin and infer I meant I’ll respond to the entirety of his post and the arguments made therein.

But why though?

The premise of “those who want a reset have nothing” has apparently been established with no supporting evidence so I see no reason to not say those so adamantly against a gold reset/cap bought their gold.

How do you catch them? If blizzard banned every person who got lump sums of gold in the mail theyd be swimming in tickets of those they banned without cause

I dont think its as easy as people pretend. “gut feeling” doesnt cut it when people pay subs and have invested so much money into the game

This topic is a solid litmus test for which slope your iQuotient resides on.

Tbc fresh isn’t happening. Cope.

People have put a lot into their characters over the last year or year and a half, they don’t want to be forced to start over. There are a lot of people with no gold savings like me who don’t want to start over (Naxx consumes have pretty much wiped me out). Sure, a lot of the gear will be replaced in TBC, but I spent over a year collecting (almost) all of the classic enchanting recipes. It would really make me sad to lose all that.

I don’t have lots of gold. In fact I don’t even have an epic mount. But I don’t support gold resets and will quit if I can’t transfer my alts to BC. Since it doesn’t affect me if there is some sort of limit to the amount you can transfer I’d continue to play BC if I got to transfer my alts.

What a cringey thread #cope

I’ve never understood why anyone playing any MMO would ever want a reset. Even if you have spent actual real-life dollars on gold, it pales in comparison to the amount if time you’ve invested in the game. Throwing away a thousand hours of your life is more important than throwing away a thousand dollars.

WHAT’S 2+2?? AND DONT TELL ME ITS 4 GIVE ME A REAL ANSWER

Bih get outta here.

Probably should have mentioned, only talking about GOLD reset(like 100g cap per 60 character) Full reset would be silly but they should allow for a few new servers they don’t allow xfers to for 6 months(Like they did in vanilla with TBC)

I’d like to bring it with me and I haven’t bought a copper.

It’s taken me since Oct. 18th, 2019 to earn this 977g 58s 75c; highest was 1,567g back on Nov. 21st, 2020.

EDIT: Seeing the comment below mine. I’d be down for them capping gold. I’m more concerned with keeping my non-monetary progress.

Along with all the other things. I’d like to keep my Knight ranking, thank you very much.

Plus, I also know it won’t change anything.

Soon as you hit 60 on your mage, go to Deadwind Pass and farm the mobs around Kara; they go from dropping Runecloth to dropping Netherweave, and do not get their stats scaled up from ‘Vanilla 58-60’.

Burn to 70 and head over to Elemental Plateau and farm elementals for the…motes (think it items were called motes; or was that MoP ).

From there take a geared 70 and blow through Vanilla dungeons; vendor or D/E the items (since TBC items have better stats weights than their Vanilla equivalents).

EDIT: From there, do GDKP [lvl 70] raids on your [lvl 70] alts.

I give it a month, 3 tops, before a ‘fresh start’ TBC server is just as bad as current day Classic.

Retail got janked because of Tokens. Classic will get janked because we know exactly what will be coming, and when. On top of knowing exactly what is BiS, and when.

((BTW: Back when TBC released, it didn’t take long for the economy to go through inflation. As gold from quests was heavily buffed in TBC; think I got around twice as much gold from the Hellfire Penn. quests as I did from the EPL quests I had done to hit 60. - I didn’t know Outlands started at 58 at the time.))
