With All The Leaks and Rumors... What If?

What if the next expansion was more cosmic, 8th level, 3d chess, mega villain we have never heard of story?

So most people are cooking up Dragon Isles Bacon on their chests, and seem to think thats where we are headed. Im on board. I want that to be it. But if we have learned anything in these past 4 or so years… The WoW Story and Dev team… dont necessarily know where they are going, much less, how to get there and at the minimum tell the story of the journey.

Now put those tinfoil hats on tight, stand in front of that microwave and turn it up to 11. So Ion has hinted that he would like a more grounded expansion. But here is the thing. Ion and Steve Danuser speak in corporate legal talk. They only talk in vague general ways. Nothing specific and for the most part nothing that can be taken as a firm statement or fact.

So they have mentioned that they do want to take the story back to Azeroth. But they never specified when. The next expansion, more than likely was decided at the launch of Shadowlands. So whatever Danuser has cooked up, is what we are going to get.

Now that the Janitor left us on a cliffhanger ending, it seems more likely that Danuser has already decided where the story goes. What if where we go next is using Zereth Mortis to go to other Zereth’s to liberate them and get them ready to defend against “What is to come.”

Now hear me out. We open a gateway from our Zereth to a mysterious junction. Almost like an airport. This will be our new city hub. From this hub, we will call it Zeriibos, we meet Automa who can help us Unlock portals to the other Zereths. There are 5 new zones. All different themes of Zereth. And after questing through all of them setting up small bases, on our journey to LV70, we then get to align with a specific Zereth that suits us. We then get a specific ability tied to our class and to the Zereths we align to. This choice is permanent for the expansion.

We then liberate all the Zereths and defeat the first waves of “What is to come” which are invading the different Zereths, while the big “What is to come” looms in the background, executing a plan us foolish mortals cannot understand.

Now does that cook your spaghetti and throw it down the stairs or what?!?!?!

My tinfoil hat has officially melted. I’m ready to embrace the Mortisi.

Will there be new mounts to collect?

Each Zereths will have one zone specific mount type, but there will be 35 re-colors of each one, within the zone.

However. There will be no flying or mounting within any of the Zereths. Not until you reach revered with each reputation. Complete the campaign story. And buy it with Zerethite Tokens. Which one can be earned every day, by completing 15 Daily quests. You need 580 Zerethite to unlock.

This seems more than reasonable.

Maybe we could also unlock a new zone later in the expansion, and we could use Morti Moats to build even more mounts and pets.

This new zone could be the place that was used to create the Zereths - Zereth Zereth.

I’m getting very excited, hopefully they’ll add more reskin variations than 35 in later patches. You’re selling this really well. Do you work for Blizz eyes you skeptically

Ooh! Perhaps the new villain could be… The Prison Warden

These are titillating ideas. Yes, titillating.

It would be wonderful if the reskins were locked behind each other, e.g. the first reskin is a rare drop and the 2nd reskin couldn’t drop until you got the first and so on. 35 in a row like that, it would be like a long chain of fun

No. I already said the new villain’s name. It is literally “That which is to come.” His plan is so complex, so intricate, so amazingly evil, that we dont have any idea what it is. And That is why he is called the “That which is to come.”… BECAUSE WE HAVE LITTERALLY NO IDEA OF WHAT IS COMING!!!

OMG he’s so mysterious, he must be soooooo evil, I’m literally shaking

No the reskins are random. Each time you achieve a mount its recolor is random. You then have to do the achievement all over from the start if you got a color you already had. The actual mount achievement is complete when you get a new coloration, and can then attempt another achievement for a different coloration.

They’re going to have to change the esrb rating from T for teen. This game is getting too scary.

Oh that’s so much better than what I came up with.

I mentioned even before the Jailer cinematic, that they seem to be building up to the next expansion being us having to unite the 6 realms of existence.

We already united Death and Life in Shadowlands, with the re-connection of Winter Queen and Elune.

This means they could easily make 10.0 be the connection of Order and Fel. Unless I’m blanking, we have never met the “leaders” of the Fel - we always just assumed it was Sargeras. But he was a Titan of Order, so obviously the Pantheon of Fel is out there somewhere. Likewise, if Azeroth’s birth is indeed 10.0, like most leaks have said - the final titan of Order being born would make sense to focus the initial expansion patch on Order and Fel.

Then 10.1 and 10.2 be the Light and Void, and how we go about uniting the two most opposite forces. Could see Yrel and Xe’ra being brought back (as they said Naaru only die in the realm of light, Xe’ra would have likely reformed by now), and I could see Xalatath being used as our “ambassador” of sorts to the void. She seems to have her own agenda, but at the same time, she does things in HER best interest - and not having the cosmos implode would be in that interest.

This would lead up to the expansion after, which sees the Broker’s speculated 7th realm (or Firim’s speculated “second”) show up. I assume at this point that the Devourers are from this realm.

Can we . . . not?

Yeah, honestly I am hoping so much for a more down to earth next expansion. I know we’re not going to just go back to Azeroth and do missions to turn in boar meat or something like that, but I would at least like to mostly remain on this plane of existence for the next expansion.

Forgive me, but you are de-railing my expansion idea. I appreciate the response, but its like you brought math homework to the house party. Your explanation makes too much sense. I dont need a tinfoil hat or the microwave to understand it.

Now… I would love for you to try again… more in line with the original post.

Illidan is going to go crazy, release Sargeras, who will corrupt the titans, and the titans will begin a second Burning Crusade.
