I’d sorely miss Apocalypse in the event we lost it. Few games give you the ability to play a melee minionmaster, even fewer ones where the MMM is also a necromancer type, and for me Apoc is one of UDK’s best abilities for that particular fantasy. Hit dude, summon friends to also hit dude, while also restoring runes and popping wounds. Even better that its on a relatively short CD.
I would appreciate it if the ghouls could crawl out of the ground a little faster, though.
You know Diecruxx… I’ve been thinking about this solution and uhh… I think I know why you would propose this solution: Fallen Crusader is SO GOOD that you’re actually trolling if you’re not running one… as in, you don’t have an actual use of Runeforging otherwise. Either bake it in somewhere or just straight up remove it.
Like why in the Lich King’s balls is Rune of the Apocalypse only works with your Timmy and nothing else? Feels like running it over FC…
… and don’t get me started with the removal of Rune of Hysteria that my Blood DK had to pay the price for!
My logic: It impacts 2h frost by far the most, and DW frost would remain far ahead if it could use razor ice + stoneskin AND baked in FC.
So bake FC into MotFW and 2h will immediately be a little more viable and Shatter builds will be an option.
Yes, UHDK and BDK default to FC which isn’t that fun, but the runes are not holding back gameplay like it does for 2h FDK. Buff the other options to help in some other aspect to make them meaningful choices I guess.
I would not miss it at all. It does a terrible job at satisfying the necromancer fantasy, feels redundant, does bad damage on its own, and contributes to button bloat.
Doomed Bidding already does a way better job of reinforcing the necromancer side of Unholy. They should lean into this more by replacing Apoc and its related talents with similar abilities. For example, popping wounds has a chance to summon shamblers that explode when they reach the target and disease ticks have a chance to summon ghouls.
Summoning 4 ghouls every 45s is pretty sad. Consistently summoning different types of fodder undead via a propper rotation is much better, thematically and functionally.
I feel like Frost would be boring as sin with these changes… Just literally a mash spec… We already have relatively low skill expression in our kit, we don’t need less.
You guys should think of what you would use if FC is removed or baked in instead of just blindly thinking it will fix everything. You just move on to the next best thing.
Death Knights dont have to runeforge their weapon and an enchant could take its place and you just pay up like everyone else, or you just replace it with Stoneskin, or add stoneskin on and gain a nerf in the process to balance things out due to the added primary stat that you used to not have but now you do.
Why not just advocate for the removal of enchanting, runeforging and just give everyone a +primary stat increase from doing actions.
Do people still not think about the consequences to their suggestions to where we get KM rank 2 all over again?

If you remove their spite, Kelliste’s point IS contructive in this case. If FC was made part of the 2h Frost kit by being baked into MotFW, the “required” rune forge would just change to either a regular enchant or one of the other rune forge enchants. You would still always run the same one, so what’s the point other than trying to increase the amount of damage for 2h Frost by asking for it a different way?
The fact is, since FC is always used, you just bake it into the class baseline, the next best will always be Stoneskin or an enchant and then and accompanying nerf will come with it due to the increased primary stat.
So instead of this “your always negative, why dont you shut up” you actually read what was written as others have and can see the truth of the matter.
Runeforging is just a free enchant. Take it for what it is and quit complaining about it and trying to change something that will either cost you gold, or bring about nerfs that you cant recognize.
We want it baked into motfw so razorice can be used instead. You know, the other mandatory enchant if you want to play certain builds? Having to drop fallen crusader in order to play shattering strike with 2h is terrible design. Adding it baseline would give 2h a well needed buff and give them the freedom to spec whatever final talent tree without having to compromise. If tuning is required then so be it.
Sometimes people just want the spec to be cleaned up and modernized, not made into an overpowered monstrosity. Why is this such a hard concept for you to understand?
Could just take the stack out of Razorice and make it a single debuff that gets applied with Talents like Glacial Advance, and its already baked into Avalanche talent soo
RI is already in the spec. People have been wanting FC to be baked in not so they can use RI, but because its the go to pick and they think if you are able to get rid of the go to pick it will open up the other runeforges… except it wont.

So what? A bad idea is a bad idea no matter where its posted. Making FC baseline just shifts what you put on your weapon to whatever the next best thing is. If its not FC its Stoneskin, if its not stoneskin its the primary stat increase weapon enchant.
You arent going to make the weapon enchant system a pick and choose type of thing. Lichbane wasnt taken for a reason and if FC was made baseline because it was the best, it still wouldnt have been taken and you would have been going to the AH to get a dps enchant on your weapon like berserking.
Here, are you looking to just suggest cool stuff without thinking about the repercussions of those changes, or are you trying to suggest ways to actually improve the class and you dont want feedback on those suggestions? Or is it both?
