Wish we had Classic in Unreal 4 Engine redesign

I’d play this in a heartbeat if there was Classic remake and not follow retail steps.

Before anyone can say that retail is same thing as remake, its not. Since most areas have changed massively since Cataclysm.

Not to mention, a bit more hairstyles, coloring and face and anatomy options would be great too along the remake.

But yes, i was aware that WoW vanilla were in plans on making instance housing too and it was dropped. But if they made remake once more exactly the way it is in Classic immersion environments, I’d still play it.

Imagine WoW 2 with Unreal Engine

That would be great for a single player game.

It would be garbage for an MMO. Unless you love slideshows.

Stylism trumps fidelity any day. It’s one of the core reasons WoW has so much appeal.

Every time I see these sorts of videos I feel like they look pretty, but also generic.

This one a little less so than usual but still, this just takes away from the unique aesthetic that Warcraft has spent decades building.

Debatable, because there are plenty of people who’d want places like these to roleplay in. Thats one of the strongest part for BDO and FF14, places to feel immersed.

But i do feel that the game needs a new revamp in character creation system for not just remake but retail to adjust their anatomy

That people like to RP doesn’t have anything to do with my argument that it all looks rather generic.

I’d agree with more character customization, but I think they should keep the Warcraft aesthetic rather than chase graphical fidelity.

That looks really nice, I feel like Retail WoW is in desperate need of a top to bottom overhaul in graphics (and gameplay but that’s another discussion).

Imo, Blizz needs to find a way to more or less keep the style but significantly up the pollies. As well as adding more HD textures and models to the world including all the detailed little objects and clutter that make environments appear lived in.

They seem to be moving in that direction with every expac but Retail is still worlds behind where it could be in terms of immersive graphics. Also player housing (NOT GARRISONS!!!) would be great!

Edit: Classic is fine. Though I am also in favor or upped graphics that can be toggled on or off for those who choose to do so.

I’m having fun in Classic right now. And I’m waiting for a BC servers too.

But ever since I 1st started playing BC, I always wished for a WoW 2 that had graphics that were as good as my PS2 games (and with no loading screens for Kalimdor & Eastern Kingdoms too).

I’ve played Final Fantasy 7, 8, & 9 on the PS1. I’ve played Tomb Raider 1 on the PS1. I hated Tomb Raider Anniversary (a remake of TR1) on the PS2. But so far from these 2 videos, I think I will love the new FF7 remake. They are combining ATB (Action Turn Base) system with live action fighting. I never could stand random encounters in old RPG games anyways.

It’s a very delicate thing to do. Combine the original gameplay with the new gameplay. But I think Square Enix is doing the right thing. And 2 years ago I was talking trash about the FF7 remake (being more Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2-like game [which I actually like playing] than being a Final Fantasy-like game). What if WoW 2 or WoW Remake did the same thing as FF7 remake?

people, your rx 560s wouldn’t keep a stable frame rate. I know the best buy guy said your PC could play everything, but you do have limits.

I’m not a fan of changing Classic to look like that video. The stylized graphics of Warcraft 3 into World of Warcraft are what make the game so timeless.

If you have a tater tot of a PC from 10 years ago. There’s MMORPGs that look better than this that are nearly that old.

Edit: I just watched the video. And you’re right. The graphics for the Unreal video aren’t that great. So, my previous comment is getting edited to reflect that fact.

Kudos to the recantment.

Retail for this would be fine. I dont think people understand the point of classic.

At least that video looks like the WoW/Blizzard style. I’d be down for that. The other one that I’ve seen looks and feels nothing like Warcraft at all.

I would avoid Unreal and go with Amazon’s Lumberyard (which is based on CryEngine).

Dreadnought uses (or did when I played) UE4, and the biggest issue I had was my mouse cursor would not stay constrained to the game window; even when Fullscreen.

Looking around, it appeared that was a common problem with UE4.

I also opt for Lumberyard because I may or may not have played a certain game which used Lumberyard. All I can neither confirm nor deny is the game, hypothetically, played very smoothly on ‘near-max’ settings. Hypothetically, I would have stuck with the ‘default’ settings that theoretically would have been picked based on my system specs.

Plus: Frack Epic Games, I dislike how they treat their customers and how they treat devs.

On a side note: I’d rather they just remaster all the models and terrain assets. Keep the Vanilla feel, but up the texture. Kind of like what Bethesda did with Skyrim’s [official] HD Texture Pack. Make it completely optional, just like LOTRO did. - You had to pick in LOTRO that you wanted the ‘HD Textures’, where it would then tell you the next time you start the launcher it’ll download those textures.

…no sense forcing people to store textures they don’t want.

((The new models don’t ‘feel’ like WoW, as it was. So, I don’t think I’d be fine with having them in Classic. Plus a remaster on items would mean those remastered assets could be brought into Retail. Giving the ‘old stuff’ a quality that is on par with the ‘new stuff’ (you can totally tell if someone is using old stuff in a transmog when mixed with new stuff).))

As cool as it is, it would definitely not fit well with the character model design. You would have to redo them to so that they are realistic instead of cartoony, and then the game would most definitely not feel like the same game anymore.
