Now I’m not done with SoD yet, and I don’t think Blizz is either. Scarlet Enclave is probably my favorite raid of SoD. The difficulty making downing each boss actually feel like an accomplishment. Though we haven’t quite downed Caldoran yet.
I am approaching the point where I’ve done most of what I want to do outside of acquire BiS, even killing Khonsu 17 times on both my characters and completing the awesome secret quests.
That being said, Blizz could very easily breath some life into the game with a handful of fairly low-effort additions.
New PvP rewards, potentially upgraded PvP armor with the option of different set effects from different raids or just fun cosmetic/toys. Give us Warlords and High Warlords a reason to PvP while in full Scarlet Enclave gear. We don’t need much we’ll spend hundreds of hours on a damn title. But we need something, hopefully that gets us back in ALL the BG’s not just one. I sincerely miss WSG.
Hardmodes for prior raids that are tuned for full BiS raid team. Move some numbers, and dangle some cosmetic rewards or maybe even transmog style rewards if that’s easy. Maybe even something dumb like a “The Discoverer” title if you complete them all for retail and the eventual classic+
Dwarf Shamans, Undead Paladins. The hype for the brief moment this was thought to be coming in Phase 8 was real and it’s a missed opportunity if it’s not realized.
BoA rewards for completing all the quests in certain zones, Cosmetic Rewards for exploring or completing questlines you didn’t get on the way up.
If this all sounds terrible to you, or you just want to quit, that’s fine. I’m not ready to let go just yet, and I’ll probably be here in some capacity till Classic+ launches. I just hope they add little things to add to the longevity.
I love SOD and have zero interest in playing any of the other versions. If they dont give us some new pvp stuff nice will they even spend resources on more pve stuff? I just might be forced to look for what SOD is missing pvp wise somewhere else. (pserver!). =)
I would like to see;
BG tokens and Honor being able to be turned in for BM coins.
Reals account bound.
More PvP stuff even if its only cosmetic. Just give us a damn bone.
I really think they intended to release alliance shaman and horde pallies. They just changed their minds on releasing them in p8. People will go nuts if that is release mid or end of the year.
after the SE debacle why in the world would they make anything new for the overwhelming majority of players which can’t handle anything “new” and the adversity that comes with it. I like new content - over-tuned or not. P4, 5, and 6 were the worst for me because it’s all the same garbage.
The current player base, they don’t want to work for anything. there’s no money in it for blizzard to make new stuff only for things to be chewed up and spit out in a few weeks and clamor for more.
No, people got mad with blizzard with SE because… why change from a template that has been a big hit of having normal and some type of hardmodes. I hated AQ40/Naxx but in SOD they were actually fun because I was able to run them on alts. This is just my opinion… SE is far from pug friendly. Like why switch up?
the funny thing is there have a lot of stuff that they can work on that wouldn’t cost a lot of money… and most SOD players dont play other versions of wow. So, maybe they should worry about those subs.
You mean people that joined a “SEASONAL” mode? would quit faster if there was easy mode? I mean, a lot of people were super happy once they mention that SOD would not end and would go on indefinitely. I see no plus as to why they would do a 180 and simply release an overtune raid.
I have said since day 1 that we were beta testing classic+ for blizzard and I still believe that 100%.
Did you even read the post dude, literally asking for easy updates to keep longevity, low effort in, long playability for those who want to stick around.
you know what makes players quit faster than “finishing the game” ?
being unable to even prog for 2 weeks till big nerfs hit and then feeling like they are 2 weeks behind forever and the attrition that comes with realizing you or your guild is just not good enough and losing players to other guilds who then quit when the new raid just doesnt feel as good.
The claim that progression isn’t happening contradicts actual raid data, which shows more guilds are clearing additional bosses each week as they refine strategies and improve execution.
Week-by-week progression is expected in any new raid—SE was never meant to be cleared effortlessly in its first few weeks by every group. As time goes on, more players are adapting and pushing further into the raid, proving the system is working as designed.
The idea that ‘people are quitting in droves’ is purely anecdotal. The actual player retention data doesn’t support this, and engagement remains steady. If some guilds are struggling, that’s more of an internal raid issue rather than a fault in Blizzard’s raid tuning.
the only reason the avg raid is clearing more is the massive nerfs that happened.
not that there was gear progression or actual strat progression as the tuning was the major wall people faced that caused so many to just up and quit.
please post your retention data that blizzard supplied you personally that the rest of us who have to go off of personal friends and masses of forum posts and streams and whatnot dont have access to.
youve been running with 40 people right?
have you even thought of the people who cant run with that many or how they might be feeling about the raid or the huge amount of forum posts and other data that were all saying “this clearly isnt tuned for 20 man” ?
naw you probably havent cause youre a bot that randomly bolds words in your post to make it look like you have some real point.
Claiming the only reason average raids are progressing is due to ‘massive nerfs’ completely ignores the reality that guilds are refining their gear progression, strategies, and overall execution week by week. If nerfs were the only factor, then progression wouldn’t be steadily increasing across all skill levels—yet that’s exactly what’s happening.
The idea that tuning was an insurmountable wall is exaggerated. Raid progression has always required adaptation, and SE is no exception. People who stuck with it are clearing more, which proves it was never impossible, just challenging.
As for retention data, it’s clear that engagement remains strong—if players were quitting in droves, we wouldn’t see consistent increases in raid clears week over week. While anecdotal frustrations exist, the broader player base is still active and pushing content.
And no, I haven’t been running with 40 people—I’ve been doing this raid with 20-35 players progressing. Each week.
If reducing the discussion to calling someone a ‘bot’ and dismissing factual points is the best counterargument, that just reinforces the weakness of the initial claim.
Your claims are hypocritical—you post on a level 80 character and refuse to show your SoD logs while critiquing others. You hold others under scrutiny while refusing to allow the same level of accountability for yourself.
I mean, it’s a challenging raid. Meant to take longer to get through. I’m 7/8 with one guild that’s very casual, and 5/8 with another that is similarly casual. But as people start to get their 2pc and 4pc and learning the fights we’re blowing through the early bosses.
