Hey! I’m building a PC for the first time (been using a laptop) and have been trying to decide what sort of mouse to get. What are the pros and cons of having a wireless mouse or one physically connected to the PC?
Thanks!

One has no wires but requires batteries.
One has a wire and doesn’t require batteries.
Hate wireless
Just plug one in. Its annoying having to worry about the batteries
i’ve not used a wireless mouse in years, so take the following with a grain of salt, but i’ve found them to be somewhat unreliable compared to a wired mouse. also, you’ve got to maintain batteries with a wireless mouse. from an aesthetic perspective, wireless is the easy winner.
just figure out what is the most important thing for you and go from there. i don’t think you’ll be terribly disappointed either way.
I like both but use wireless moreso because cats are jerks and will spite chew through the cord.
Logitech g600 wired
Will not loose a wired mouse when you throw it off your desk after a wipe.
ATM I use a logitech darkfield
Once you go wireless you will never go back. Batteries last a long time. I suggest a logitech g603.
Wireless it’s good at beginning. It’s give you some “freedom”, but just until the battery is over right during a moment that you’re doing something important and you don’t have time to wait it recharge and you don’t have extra bateries.
For an MMO, the only downside to wireless is if the mouse disconnects. I had this happen pretty frequently with my Razer Mamba. I don’t know if they’ve addressed this or not. A basic Logitech wireless mouse doesn’t seem to have this issue outside of having to wake it up after stepping away from my PC for a while.
If you want one of the mice with all the buttons on the side, I would go wired. There is a new wireless MMO mouse, but I wouldn’t trust it.
Wireless is going to be less troublesome in regards to wires and such. For WoW it should be plenty responsive.
A wired mouse is going to be more responsive, but this mostly won’t matter unless you’re playing MOBAs or FPS games.
A wireless mouse is going to be heavier because it will have a battery. Wired mice can be a lot lighter.
Finally, if you get a gaming mouse and your PC or laptop has USB 3 ports and you’re plugged into a USB 3 port and you have some weird issues, make sure the firmware on your system is up to date. USB 2 devices (pretty much all keyboards and mice) can have issues with USB 3 ports, especially if they have all buttons and lights. I had a bunch of issues with my mice until I updated the firmware and poof all the issues went away.
All these can be plugged in together, and if I plug in a usb drive, the ‘MMO’ mice don’t freak out and start resetting themselves any longer.
Corsair Scimitar MMO
Logitech G600 MMO
Logitech G403 ‘Hero’
Logitech Carbon keyboard
Go wired. Save you money on all those batteries in the long run.
I use a wired mouse to avoid random signal hiccups, batteries running out and just all together random bad stuff i have ran into using wireless products.
Just put a cord protector around it solves the issue easy. My kitten was a fiend and chewed through 1 cord before i did it and now he can’t make a dent.
I’ll keep that in mind.
I was a hardcore wired mouse user and finally got tired of all the wires on my desktop. I have 3 mice and keyboards, one PC laptop, one iMac, and my work laptop. So I bought a Razer Basilisk, complete happy with this mouse!
Unless you are a professional you really do not need the fraction of a second difference you get from a wired mouse. The sheer pleasure a cleaner desktop and not coping with a wire getting caught on something, worth it. It’s only 45 bucks too now and totally equal to my Deathadder, although it doesn’t glow.
My main desk setup has been wired for years now, but wireless has actually gotten pretty good. My living room PC uses Bluetooth for KB+mouse and DS4 controller and it works brilliantly with little to no latency.
The main caveat is that you have to make sure your bluetooth card isn’t trash. That mainly boils down to either buying a motherboard with bundled Intel bluetooth or buying an Intel bluetooth card from Asus, Gigabyte etc.
I like wired better, no chance of signal interference and you never have to worry about charging or replacing batteries. Plus wired peripherals cost less.
its more annoying to have a cord attached to your mouse
Get the mouse listed below and you will be right as rain. It has never failed me in the 2+ years since I have bought it. I am really rough on my mouse and still it works amazingly well. Its rechargeable battery is out of this world.
My setup is me on the couch with the tv as my monitor and i hate wires being all over the place. the ONLY difference i have ever seen with it being not plugged in is that it will sometimes lose power after not charging it for like 30 hours. But as far as performance no difference at all.
I spent 20-30$ on my wireless keyboard and have had it for 10+ years. Money well spent.
Logitch G900 mouse
Logitch wireless keyboard (dont know the model).
this is why never use wireless. i dont even use wireless connection to my modem. always through ethernet, its much less hassle overall
