Wireless adapter causing latency

I had recently gotten with a new ISP which much faster speeds, but I am having an issue with my wireless adapter. I thought it might be the new router, but I have test three different WIFI adapters and found that two of them have the same issue and one does not.

I experience a lag spike similar to someone suddenly downloading a massive file and using up all the bandwidth and then it goes away after a few seconds. The odd thing is it never actually shows up as a lag spike on the game’s latency meter.

I have tested this with a Linksys WUSB6300 adapter, a very recently bought tp-link Archer T3U adapter and a no-name wireless adapter from eBay that only cost me about $5. The no-name adapter works fine, causing me no issues with latency or any other network problems (the only reason I don’t just use that is it caps out a 1MB/s download speed), but the other two adapters cause the exact same type of lag spike.

Any ideas of what to do or where to look? I’m thinking of just wiring the router directly with an ethernet cable and calling it good, I just liked having it off my desk

I know this isn’t exactly a WoW related issue, but I thought someone might have a similar issue or a fix and might be able to send some info my way.

Odds are good that the new router is set to 5Ghz which has better speeds but less range. We’ve seen connectivity issues related to 5ghz before. Can you check to see what band you’re on?
