I was riding around Winterspring, reliving the two times I did the grind for the Frostsaber, and I saw the QM guy had this quest for a Winterspring Cub. Although I’m not really into the pet thing much, I figured I’d do the dailies to get the 20 whiskers and have a cool matching pet.
I completed all, had the leather and cloth and gold and went to the QM guy, turned it all in and all I got was what looks like a letter that opens to a picture of the cub with a toy in it’s mouth, called Cub’s First Toy.
I’m not sure what to do with it. I thought I was going to get a little Frostsaber lookalike as a pet, but all it is is a pic. Not being a pet guy, can maybe someone provide a little direction? Is this something pet owners use to get their pets with?
I checked my Collections tab, no Winterspring Cub there.
I’d be grateful for any guidance. Thanks in advance!
Thank you, but sorry that’s not right either. The Cub is a specific pet. In fact, when I completed the quest, I also was given the reins to the mount (which I already have).
Fingers crossed a player who has gotten the Cub through the quest line (not the vendor) can shed some light.
there are only 2 summonable Winterspring Cub pets. one is from the vendor i mentioned which is the companion/battle pet. the other is one you get during the quest chain for the Winterspring Frostsaber mount, and is a quest item used to summon a Winterspring cub to get the daily quests and is taken away when you turn in the quest for the mount.
the quest where you do 20 dailies is “They Grow Up So Fast” and after doing the 20 dailies to get the whiskers and turn them in along with the leather, cloth and gold, you get a mount and the painting “Cub’s First Toy”
Ah, that makes sense. I was under the impression that the Cub was also an award from the questline, based in part on reading anecdotes from players who described flying with the Cub and interacting (so to speak) with it.
So at the end of the day, since I already have the mount, I could have simply bought the Cub from Michelle?
