Winters Chill Effect lasts 1 second

Hey y’all,

As the title says, wanted to start a discussion about the winters chill effect (unsure how to link). It procs when you cast Flurry while Brain freeze is active, and causes the target to take damage from spells as if it were frozen. My concern here, and the reason why I am writing this, is because the _the winters chill effect lasts exactly 1 second.** I thinks it’s pretty reasonable to say it’s effects are rather useless if it ends before I can even cast another freaking ice lance, let alone another frostbolt!
I hope I don’t come across as another fan boy complaining, as that is not my intention here. I have been playing this game since I was a kid and have grown up still playing it. I think overall the game has gotten so much more refined then the days of wotlk. But it’s little things like this winters chill effect that I think could still use work. I really hope in the next patch they either increase it’s duration or change the effect altogether. Such a bummer I think when combined with deep shatter :frowning:

Also, if anyone has any suggestions, would love to here. I gotta go to work!

Winter’s chill applies on every flurry shard meaning that you have 1 second from from the last tick of flurry, not the first to land lance. This is absolutely long enough to shatter a lance from in every instance except for if you have low haste and are curse of tongued and even then I am pretty sure it works.

Not trying to insult you, OP, but it sounds like you’re not up to speed on Frost mage mechanics, if you think Winter’s chill doesn’t last long enough for IL to shatter, or to work with the Deep Shatter talent.

Try the Altered-Time forums, they have a comprehensive guide to Frost.

ETA: Flurry travels faster than most Frost spells, which makes it able to apply Winter’s Chill before the preceeding spells hit. It’s what makes the frost comboes work. (i.e Frostbolt/Ebon/GS -> Flurry -> IL)

Thanks y’all. Got some great advice here. I learned that if your not exactly right about something while asking for help (whole reason i made the post is cause i wanted some answers) others will attempt to politely tell you you don’t know what your talking about. This game is a complete waste of time and I only regret not deleting my wow account sooner. Have fun guys.

Uh, that’s how winter’s chill works and no one was even rude to you, so that’s a bit of an overreaction.

Im just here to feed the troll

Bye!

Seriously though, if a few people pointing out that you’re missing one of the principal mechanics behind Frost Mage since 7.0 causes you to quit the game you wouldn’t have lasted 30 seconds in a pug or LFR.

The only people that would have been considered rude before your “I quit declaration because you’re mean” is this guy:

EDIT: apparently not that guy.

And this guy

And that’s you!

All of us have said incorrect things and gotten called on it. Suck it up, learn from it and make your game better.

Or rage quit because life is full of meanies

For the record, I was insulting Blizzard, not the OP, and if there’s a glitch in winters chill, it’s most likely due to latency issues, because I’ve had similar issues with Pyroblast instacasts not registering properly, as well as ignite ticks not increasing after pyro instantcasts. You see the numbers on the screen, but the combat logs tell a different story.

It’s not technically a bug, it just happens so fast that sometimes the data gets lost in the ether.

It happens for affliction when death bolt doesn’t get the proper damage increase because unstable doesn’t tick before the bolt hits.

It’s simply too hard to trace it or document it because it’s the lag that’s the bug, not the code, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t
