Winter's Chill - Debuff Priority Bugged?

It’s really hard to tell what is the intended behavior because the only real source of priority is from private servers and they aren’t necessarily correct. It is my understanding that a debuff priority system was implemented in 1.11 and I would think that, in this case, Winter’s Chill, would be prioritized higher than debuffs such as corruption and other generic DoTs. However, we are digging through some of our logs where WC seemed to fall off as a result of other debuffs and I am wondering if this is intended behavior. It is certainly possible that WCL isn’t perfect with timestamps, but I don’t have anything else to go off of with the idea that Winter’s Chill got knocked off by Corruption.

Is it possible that other debuffs are not behaving as intended? Is it intended that WC is on the same “tier” as corruption?

We’ve been doing a lot of work on trying to determine if there is a priority. We haven’t really come to many conclusions, but I suppose yes it’s possible that Classic is not working as it was in Vanilla.

It’s hard for us, the community, to discern a priority since the system changed so often back in Vanilla itself. However, to answer you question. Yes, Winter’s Chill and Corruption are on the same “tier” in Classic. As is Mind Flay, Imp. Shadow Bolt, etc. etc.

If you follow the above you will soon realize that Shadow Priest is the most targeted class at banning via debuffs due to Mind Flay potentially pushing off a more vital and critical debuff, such as Spell Vulnerability, Winter’s Chill, maybe even Ignite? Rip…

Just imagine a guild decking out a Shadow Priest only to debuff ban them come AQ lol. Glorious!
