Wintergrasp Vote

I have to vote 2. I seen now what everyone was complaining about. Done properly the defense will always win. Both alliance and horde zerg from the defense end. get their siege engines usually at least 8 drop the towers fast then sit on whatever area the other side is trying to break thru at. When Wintergrasp came out decades ago it was fun. Now not so sure.

Wintergrasp needs a few changes for the modern game and it will be fine. It took IoC multiple iterations to improve that BG.

AV to me still needs a lot of work compared to WG and IoC IMO. AV still feels like a race when it shouldn’t be like that.

If anyone is curious the informal voting so far is

14 Hooray! (1- keep it)
9 Boooooo! (2- scrap it)

I did count the 1.5 votes as both, but the 2x infinity vote only got counted once.

It was the same thing which is why tenacity came in to play. Also, I forgot all about that until someone mentioned it a few nights ago.

The only way in my opinion is to have no more than 5 vehicles at one time on each side.

Thank for your help XD.

tenacity was more for fixing server balance than making the BG even. by the time it was introduced faction dominance in WG was settled on most servers. on my server we would regularly push alliance back to their spawn and farm them for 20 minutes. when this became the norm alliance on my server stopped playing WG unless it was 3 AM. tenacity was added so that the 13 alliance players who still wanted to play or wanted to run VoA could stand up to the 120 horde players always there.

Wintergrasp is about map control which Alliance seems to have 0 sense of since they will mindlessly kamikaze into the walls on offense from 2 bases while Horde make their way around the map taking the south shops and towers while Alliance players do everything possible to avoid direct contact with enemy players and are instead more focused on attacking a wall.

They have no idea how to use RP-GGs and I would bet half the team that queue in even know what it is or where to find them. They just want their poverty conquest but want everyone else to do the heavy lifting.

They have no idea the value catapults bring so they’ll spam anyone that grabs one with ā€œwtf are you doingā€ callouts. If their damage is significantly nerfed because people can’t 1v1 them then they might as well be removed entirely.

They have no idea how to utilize demolishers ranged ability and the extra platforms for ranged players.

Nope, just grab siege engines and blame players for not getting in the turret when they fail to get anywhere remotely close to any wall. then wonder why they’re down to 4 vehicle slots and getting farmed. Clearly it’s because the BG is bad!

What a joke. If you want your poverty conquest try not to be dead weight in the process.

Also 1.

When you got 20 vehicles in one BG It becomes vehicles PVP (Hell) Is not player versus player anymore It’s player versus vehicle.

IoC got just the right amount of vehicles in it this BG need something like that.

Again PVP stand for player versus player in WG its more player versus vehicles.

P.s Trolls are easy to ignores vvvv

I’m not gonna argue with you because you are clearly not able to have a real discussion and want people to just agree with you.

Bye bye, BG hero.

I put up a vote Either choose (1) or (2) easy and 1 is Winning so far. where do you get I want everyone to agree with me?

Why, because I disagree with you and I brought up some good points? Clearly you didn’t want no discussion you just want everybody to agree
with you.

And as far as the BG hero comment you must not do to many BG’s most know BG’s is more of a team fight.

Actually 1 is winning.
I put it at Hooray because that’s how I voted.
I’ll fix the post to make it clearer.

I was a big fan of Wintergrasp when it was re-released and everyone was figuring things out.

But lately I’ve seen the same pattern of strategy in several games in a row, I see now what the ā€œmetaā€ is and I’m not a fan. Namely two big blobs avoiding each other and just trading Workshops as the clock ticks on.

Eventually one team becomes more bored/disinterested than the other, and that is when the loser is decided.

I’m not sure what can be done to avoid this, but Blizzard needs to put their thinking caps on.

avoiding is really only valid the first few minutes of the game, once everyone has their kills and vehicles are rolling there is no need to avoid the other group. the counter to this is for one group to watch where the other goes and head straight for them, in particular you want to watch for a split at the start before your group starts moving. if the other team splits then your whole team needs to move to one workshop and wipe them out.

That’s not necessarily true, if defense keeps the offense chasing around to workshops they’ll end up with fewer vehicles and less wall pressure. Not to mention running the clock out. And like I said:

I’ve both won this way a few times and lost this way a few times. All in all there ends up being less player conflict (vehicle or otherwise).

It reminds me of Ashran during it’s ā€œavoid one anotherā€ metas.

A lot less vehicles would make me happy I think up to 5 at a time would be great Ioc got just the right amount vehicles.
