Wintergrasp vehicle health and damage not scaling with item level of operator's gear

Client: Wrath of the Lich King Classic

Version: 3.4.3.52237

Bug: Wintergrasp vehicle health and damage currently do not scale with the item level of the operator’s gear. All 3 Wintergrasp vehicles (Catapult, Demolisher, Siege Engine) are currently affected by this bug.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log into the game.

  2. Join a Wintergrasp battle while wearing good equipment, such as Tier 10 or Wrath Gladiator PvP gear.

  3. Rank up to where you can spawn and drive a Wintergrasp vehicle.

  4. Upon spawning and entering the Wintergrasp vehicle, observe that its health and damage output do not scale with the item level of you, the operator.

Expected Result: Wintergrasp vehicle health and damage output should scale with the item level of the operator’s gear, as specified by Patch 3.1.2:

Vehicle health and damage output in Strand of the Ancients and Lake Wintergrasp now scale with the item level of the operator’s gear. Power scaling is now 1% damage and 1% health per average item level.

Actual Result: The health and damage output of the Wintergrasp vehicles do not scale with the item level of the operator’s gear.

They do scale with ilvl. It just doesn’t start scaling until your ilvl is quite high, and the increase in health isn’t all that significant.

There was no scaling in the most recent Wintergrasp match I participated in, however.

Rather, both allied vehicles and enemy vehicles had no health or damage scaling. At all. So they were stuck with their baseline, non-scaled health and damage values.

Ordinarily, if the scaling were working, I would have seen Siege Engines rolling with at least 100k health (usually more).

Odd, then. I’ll hop into a game at 3 and check.

Worth noting is that the 3.1.2 patch notes never indicated that a minimum item level was required to cause the scaling to take effect.

It only specified that the increase was an average of “1% per average item level.”

There’s always a baseline. They appear to be scaling properly in the WG I’m in right now, at this moment.

I saw a player make a demo with about 65k hp, mine has 87k.

Running some math, it looks like the baseline health is 50k (according to wowhead), so 87k is about a 74% increase. I’m ilvl 274, so the base ilvl is 200, i would guess.

Have you checked the Catapults and Siege Engines?

My Siege has 134k hp. Haven’t checked Cata’s yet, but I’m seeing some varying health bars.

Strange. Perhaps I just got (un)lucky with a ton of undergeared drivers on both sides.

Will continue testing and observing, just to be sure.
