Wintergrasp LAG

It seems more laggy and unplayable with each phase. How does it keep getting worse?
You can’t defend when demos “teleport” forward and are never in range.

Please. Do. Something.

I’m going to guess that this is maybe a combination of not having a very well resourced computer, and being with a lot of other people in the same area.

For me, I haven’t noticed any lag recently.

You sure about that?

If I was sure, I wouldn’t have said:

Anyone who says there isn’t lag in WG hasn’t been participating in WG. It’s been brutal lately in most games.

there are 3x type of lag
1-fps lag “caused by PC” where you’re dropping frames
2-MS lag “caused by the distance between you and the server” mostly based on routing.
3-server lag which can be 2xthings
A-server can’t handle the amount of date to send/receive from/by players in time Or
B-server bandwidth stream is Ok but the problem from your end if you’re network can’t handle the packets of data where you get a traffic lag because either your pc isn’t encoding what’s happening around you fast enough before sending data to server or your internet isn’t capable of having sync between you and the surrounding because your internet bandwidth stream can’t handle all sent/receive date in time which can happen due poor upload speed or port blocks or a firewall by your ISP

when it comes to WG, let’s say you’re fighting at base with crowded area filled by people and even if the server can’t handle them all However if you’re close to server and you have no blocks/firewalls or anything that delay pockets then you won’t lag because Network latency will matter a lot.
but sure lowering the amount of players fighting in WG will help everyone.

This has to do with Blizzards instance servers not being able to withstand 240 people in one instance.
This is something that won’t be fixed anytime soon or if at all ever.

It has its good days and its bad days. Tried to tell them to reduce its size, but as usual, no responses and nothing done. I’m often just idling in there because there’s too much lagg to do anything else.

I always see people state to turn off the addon “questie”. But I turn it off, and it is exactly the same lag wise. So it must be something else.

I know details can cause some lag, but the fix was just to lower the update interval.

I usually play WG on two instances (Horde and Alliance) on my desktop. When the lag is particularly stifling, I can ALT+F4 one instance to see if there is an improvement.

there is not. quelle surprise!!!1

They added the water back, that’s why it’s laggy.

Sad retail wintergrasp is perfect, its the same one from 2009, non instanced, pathetic server balance by cringe twitch streamers turning feralina/bene 100% faction pve crap.

Yeah, I am really bummed their primary focus was “including” the 99% one faction realms by making it into a cross realm battleground. Same as I hated same faction battlegrounds. People sitting in a queue is a balance mechanism. If they don’t like the wait they just might join the low side. Instead? Design decisions that cater to those who tipped servers because who cares about balance! Whatever keeps the xfer money flowing…

The in-house rivalry on Grobb would have been great, the random wPvP in the fortress between battles would have been fun. Can’t now, it’s phased. Meanwhile those who created the unbalanced realms would be rewarded with a queue that doesn’t pop and begin to think about their mistakes of abandoning countless once-healthy realms because they wanted the PvP tag without any actual PvP.

yeah, grob is legit the best server, we had 20 allie vs 20 horde pvp last night in nagrand, only on grob you get a real classic experience like it was 2009 pvp server with all the world pvp fun.

I’m running a good comp with a 4070 ti. I get 200+ fps in the most spell intense fights at max settings. I’m also experiencing the lag they are talking about. It is absolutely server side.

Or increasing bandwidth of the server.

If it is server side, wouldn’t that mean that everybody experiences it? I see people talking about lag in WG, while not experiencing it, and others also not experiencing it.

Nope. We’re not all on the same server. We’re all split across a few servers in WG. Blizz is just to cheap, despite their vast income, to fix the problem.

We all have bad PCs, yeah?
