Wintergrasp = Garbage

Its time to remove this battleground. Its quicker to take the deserter debuff than to be on the attacking side and wait out a 30 minute loss. So many people instantly leave this battleground when they find out they are on the attack side.

At the very least, bring back Blacklisting battlegrounds.

Really enjoy WG, but it’s current state is almost unplayable.

The debuff for leaving needs to be a penalty, and as it stands it isn’t one.

Offense gets stuck with half a team who can’t build because deserters and new folks get stuck in a BG that’s 30 minutes from done and unwinnable.

WG back when it was played during WotLK was fun. I really enjoyed that because you had to amass everyone on your server to go defend/attack it. Now its just terrible. The 15 minute deserter debuff is preferable for me, rather than staying for a long, drawn out loss when I’m on attack.

Wrong, Wintergrasp is not fine. I have a 100% winrate when defending and Zero wins when attacking. Vehicles and cannons do far too much damage to players and not enough to walls. Couple this with Defenders always having more vehicles than attackers and the game is played in the southern part of the map for 20 mins. This Battleground needs to be removed until Blizzard can make the proper adjustments.

As for Ashran, at least it is 50-50 who can win with more emphasis on actual player vs player combat unlike any of the other epic battlegrounds in the rotation.

WG is the most one sided instance to ever occur in any game ever. How did this possibly make it into live servers…

I’m not even sure of the changes they could to make it INTERESTING, let alone balanced.

I’ve won wintergrasp as attacker, but god knows I have no fu%#in clue how.

The issue as stated above is vehicles, they do far too much damage to players, why play your class and pvp normally when a catapult can burn a single person or even a group of cluttered people to death in about 3-4 seconds? Mercy on you if multiple vehicles target you.

They need to make vehicles do almost nothing to players, at least not more damage than a player can do to a player. As soon as defense at sunken ring gets enough kills they’ll spam catas and wipe the floor with the attackers, generally just making it a miserable time.

Reducing the ability of catapults to absolutely destroy players in seconds would go a long way towards fixing the imbalance. The imbalance problem starts with Sunken Ring, always being initially flipped for the defending team due to arriving first. Since defense also has cannon assists and now a spawn point for catapults, as soon as a defender gets five kills, they can roll out catapults and proceed to lay waste to the assault, who have no way to counter. This is turns gets everyone else on defense five kills nearly instantly, and it snowballs into instant corporal rank and thus 16 catapults/demos/siege engine for the entire defending team before assault can even get out a single catapult.

The ideal solution to fix assault odds, would be to allow assault to spawn catapults at the immediate start of the match. This would alter the dynamics of the initial fight over SR or BT significantly. “Defense” wouldn’t be able to start rolling a full compliment of 16 siege vehicles down the map within a minute of the match starting.

The primary issue with Defense is that it’s not Defense, its 100% offense with zero defense needed. That’s the failure of Wintergrasp. Defense should need to defend, but they absolutely do not. Assault needs to be allowed to assault at the start of the match, and defense should be required to be on defense from the start. It should be a challenge to split of the resources needed to down the towers, not a guaranteed freebie.

They could make it that no team can control more than 4 bases. Since defenders already have two in their base the 2 in the southern part of the map would always be available to the attackers. Right now it is easy for the defenders to snowball the quantity of overpowered vehicles in their favor starting from a few minutes into the match.
Vehicles need to do less damage to players and more damage to walls. Cannons need their range reduced and southern towers need their health increased. The attacking team beginning spawn point needs to be moved closer to the base or move the defenders beginning spawn point further back. Both teams should be arriving at the same time to the forward bases.
Also make the forward bases Neutral at the start of the match. Force the fight. PVP is what we want.

Wintergrasp is vehicle pvp and not fun at all since they reintroduced Wintergrasp I have quit playing epic BG’s.

Would it help to change things if i added a video of 80+ players afking out of WG before it even starts to show how wildly unbalanced it is? How that work with posting a vid? Do i gotta upload it to youtube and post a link here or will any type of vid link get the post flagged?

I’d honestly love to see statistics of how many people afk out of offense. It would be hilarious.

Its pure cancer that blizz has left this BG in the game in its current state. They literally have a BG that is so imbalanced that one of the teams mass rage quits, and cycles well over 100 players through its 40 man team before the game ends. It ruins the entire queue since all of us have this disproportionately high chance to get sucked into a WG offense game.

Needs to be disabled and fixed or just tossed into the dumpster

We need to debuff defence on wintergrasp. I personally enjoy the BG either way. But if Blizz could debuff the defence so the Offence has a fighting chance this would make it way better.

Honestly, if blizz wanted vehicle PvP, I would rather bring back Strands of the Ancient. In trade we can give up Wintergrasp & Seething Shore for good measure.

I don’t mind some vehicles being in PvP Wintergrasp has got way to many and damage they put out is ridiculous. You’re more likely to get killed by vehicle than a player in Wintergrasp.

You can come back with the argument that the player operates the vehicle but that still not considered PvP that is vehicle vs players.

Yeah WG for the 1k honor weekly and then never do it again. 15 min deserter vs 30-40 min game is a pretty easy decision.
