" if anyone on your faction participates in and wins a Battle for Wintergrasp, your entire faction is granted the Essence of Wintergrasp and the buff will last until the next time the battle is initiated"
Source:
Clearly, this was a lie
Steps:
Play WOTLK Classic (Blizz devs/cs MIA?)
Win Wintergrasp
Buff may or may not be awarded, against what the quote says above
“With the current circumstances along with the many adventurers returning for Dragonflight Pre-Patch we have experienced some delays.”
A bug is anything that is not working as intended. If they intended this then they would have worded it differently. It is still a bug and needs to be optimized again.
A “next battle” overwriting the previous win would NEVER result in seeing both sides have it, which I have seen many times.
Ignoring what I just said & if you were correct then it is sloppy implementation because their 5 interns were needed to help with dragonflop.
No, it definitely can depending on the population of the region and player activity at the time. All there needs to be is two games running beyond the queue lockout period. One game that horde wins and one that alliance wins. Then there’s no way that a new game can wipe them.
I just won a Wintergrasp match as part of the Alliance on Ashkandi. But Horde still has it and I cannot turn in my quests. I seem to remember that in Original Wrath, the quest givers would at least be by the flight master in this case, but they’re not there!
Is Blizzard aware of this issue yet and working on a fix?
I have a question about how this works assuming it’s not bugged. Suppose that at 6 PM on the Ashkandi realm, that Alliance and Horde players from Ashkandi wind up in two separate instanced Wintergrasp matches. Wintergrasp match #1 is won by Alliance, and match #2 (which again, goes on at the same time as match #1) is won by Horde.
In that situation, does that mean that at 6:30 PM after both matches are over, that both factions on Ashkandi get the Essence buff until 9 PM when the next matches start? And that if an Alliance player goes to Wintergrasp to turn in their quests, they’ll be in a “phase” where Alliance owns Wintergrasp? And that at the same time, if a Horde player goes to Wintergrasp, they’ll see their own phase where Horde owns Wintergrasp?
That will work so long as no new games start. When a new game starts all essence buffs will wipe on both faction on a server. So if the games have started at 6, it’s likely they will end before 6:30 which leaves them open to being wiped by a new game.
This is why some people say that the final game decides who gets the buff. They’re mostly correct, but it’s actually all games that end after the queue window that decide who gets the buff. Both factions can get it which I believe results in multiple phases with of the zone.
The part where NPCs aren’t spawning in I don’t know about but it seems to be a seperate issue to which faction has the buff. The NPC’s should be at the fort if you control WG (therefore meaning you have the essence buff), and at the base camp if you don’t. I imagine they won’t spawn during the queue windows but they should appear soon after that. I too have observed them not being there when they should be.
Regardless, NPCs not being there is a seperate issue to the essence buff which is working as intended.
So something weird just happened: At about 8:59 PM Ashkandi time; ONE MINUTE before the next Wintergrasp was to begin, I happened to be at the base camp and the NPCs at the base camp suddenly appeared! I hurried up and turned in my completed quests as fast as I possibly could before the next match started!
At this point, I can’t even tell if I’m supposed to have the buff or not, as the entire fortress is devoid of NPCs entirely, and has been since more than two battles ago (on Azuresong).
Seems to only affect Alliance which is weird. Just won and now it’s gone again been bugged for at least a month now. Be nice to have a fix to it. Also, no npcs at the post where they should be.
Understanding how a bug is working does not make it working as intended. @Anahid
This is still a bug given their wording it is supposed to mean the next battle hour mark. Not a instanced queue of it. Watch & read everything regarding Wintergrasp.
