There are several bugs associated with this area, which has recently become a hot spot for farming Timbermaw Hold Reputation due to the short respawn time of the Winterfall Runners.
- Travel to Winterspring and travel to the entrance of the Timbermaw Hold Tunnel (where the NPC Salfa resides).
- Along the way, look for and kill the pack of 3 Winterfall Runners to make them respawn at the tunnel.
- Reach the Timbermaw Hold Tunnel, wait for the Winterfall Runners to respawn, kill them, and loot them.
- Repeat Step 3 until one of the following bugs occurs. (all the bugs occur during or after the death/looting of the Winterfall Runners)
Bug #1: The client or chunk of the zone freezes up when looting a Winterfall Runner. This has occurred several times, both alone and in a party (the bug may or may not affect team members in the area as well - this seemed to depend on whether the teammate looted at the same time). During the “freeze” no interactions can take place, other players are frozen but your character can move about, and the chat is live and functioning, allowing confirmation that there is no server lag and other players within the Winterspring Zone are not experiencing problems. If a player logs out or closes the client and attempts to log back into the character that experienced the bug, the loading screen will fail and present a “A character with that name already exists” error message. The chunk of Winterspring seems to reboot after about 10 minutes, disconnecting the character and allowing the player to log back in and resume farming.
(Bug #1 encountered 4 times: once alone, twice with an affected teammate, and once to only my teammate - i did not loot at the same time)
Bug #2: In the aftermath of Bug #1, the corpse that was looted at the time of the “freeze” now becomes a permanent corpse with a permanent loot sparkle and permanent option to loot the corpse. Upon an attempt at looting, nothing will happen, and about 30 seconds later a delayed “You don’t have permission to loot that corpse” message will pop up.
(Bug #2 encountered 5 times: twice on 1/20 without freeze - watched another player get frozen - and three times on 1/21 after I had witnessed Bug #1)
Bug #3: Over time while farming, many of the Winterfall Runner corpses fail to despawn and become permanent landmarks. The resulting pileup of corpses was fixed during the Tuesday server maintenance, but it seems the permanent corpse bug was not fixed this week.
(Bug #3 encountered countless times on both 1/20 and 1/21)
Bug #4: Occasionally a corpse will prevent the player from taking the available loot. Similar to Bug #2, but a loot window will open with visible loot when the player interacts with the corpse. Similar to Bug #3 and Bug #2, the corpse becomes permanent and does not despawn.
(Bug #4 encountered only once on 1/20)
Bug #5: On 1/20 after the corpses were really starting to pile up, some of the Winterfall Runners would despawn immediately upon death. This occurred before they had even finished their death animation and would prevent the player from attempting to loot the corpse.
(Bug #5 encountered countless times only on 1/20 when there were innumerable permanent corpses in the area)
Expected Results: Kill Winterfall Runners, loot them, watch their bodies despawn a few minutes later per normalcy.
Actual Results: Kill Winterfall Runners, some despawn immediately, some freeze your game and prevent play time for about 15 minutes, then tease with permanent loot sparkles but no loot window, a few let you see the loot but won’t let you take it, and many corpses perform normally with the exception of despawning.

UPDATE: Farming continued 1/22 and 1/23. It seems the main bug (#1) may be related to the Winterfall Spirit Beads dropped item. I have encountered Bug #1 THREE more times and every time I opened loot, the silver and any other items were looted, but the Winterfall Spirit Beads stayed in the loot window. When exiting the loot window and attempting to loot again, nothing comes up and the bug continues as described above.
