There are places you can catch it year round. Bay of Storms in Azshara is one of them. But you need to be 375 skill to catch fish there if i remember, preferably 400.
Thats a good fishing pole and baubles at a minimum and of course 300 skill.

For the squid, you just need to be able to cast.

I have 300 skill, +20 rod, fishing gloves, and +100 engineer made lures
and the damned things still get away.
I filled a bank alt full of squid all winter, rogues seem to like it

TECHNICALLY true, but the rate for them to drop goes so low it’s not feasible to farm… You might see one once in a rare blue moon.
AD has STR food that you can buy. Once i run out of squid i plan on switching to that until squid comes back. Not as good for feral, but I don’t plan on paying jacked up prices in the middle of the summer for squid.

And when AQ is out we get desert dumpling recipe for 20 STR. slap those worms in silithus, you can gather the meat and store it for then.
