WinMTR results latency

Would anyone be able to tell me if this type of thing could be causing my pc to act like I’ve alt tabbed ? It seems like this happens more when my latency is worse.

Packet loss doesn’t seem to be an issue, but the quality of the connection is very poor. If this is wireless, you’ll definitely want to switch to a cable connection. And if you’re already using one, consider swapping cables, ports, or even the devices with your ISP.

It’s the same connection I have used for… maybe two years.

A different pc, with newer wifi card is the only change. Is what you’re seeing there a connection issue between my PC and my modem ?, or my modem talking to my ISP ?

When I ran that, the numbers were all fine, until I tried to connect to Battle.net or login to WoW.

Thanks so much in advance.

This^

This is the sign of a flood of packets on the network devices, which is quite common when they start to fail. Nothing lasts forever :frowning: Could be a problem with the network card, or the modem.

The PC is new, as are both of the onboard access to WIFI. Just upgraded the firmware on the Modem, and it connects to all other servers fine, and doesn’t have drop outs when connecting to streaming services or other games.

is sad

Are you using 2.4ghz or 5ghz?
Are your wireless servers up to date?
What is different from the computer that worked?

Hi Zungar.

I have been using the 2.4Ghz, the 5Ghz is even worse.

On the old computer, I used whichever was having the least use ( was sharing with two others). It is now only myself accessing the internet from here.
Either of the those options now results in the same issue.

Wireless servers, I don’t understand I am sorry.
My drivers are up to date on my WiFi hardware ?

The other computer is having the same issue. (I started it up and tried to connect it to see if the problem was duplicating, it is)

The firmware on the modem was updated before this was occurring to both pcs.

Elli

Yes, that should have been wireless drivers. Autocorrect. Sigh.

If the other computer is having the same issue, then it’s network related somewhere.

Are there qos settings on?
Is the modem also the wireless router?
If it comes from the isp, it might be worth having them test it.

googles QoS Ah, I am unaware of those… I don’t know if that is an actual tech term.

They definitely try and give support over the phone. I have sent them ping and tracert reports.

Their response is that the issue lays with Blizzard, as the other pings and rates they seem to think show as normal. The problem only arises when I have battlenet open or try and play WoW.

It may be worth noting, I am having the same issue as someone else on the forums. When I load the battlenet app up, if i check task manager, it will have upwards of 4 of those running. Have cancelled them within TM, restarted. The same issue occurs.

The modem has wireless capacities. Actually never known whether to call it a modem or router these days… It is connected to the wall, maybe 10cm from the line. No phoneline connected. Its on Australias “NBN” network. If i run a speedtest, I get around 50Mbps down , and 20 up.

The hardware is from them, yes.

Going to call now to see what they think after having forwarded them all the data.

A speed test will run a ping to a local server, and is designed to tell you how fast things could be under near perfect circumstances. In other words, it won’t help here.

As for the NBN, are you near Perth?

I’m near Melbourne.

Just spoke to Aussie Broadband - they’re really trying to help. Just did a manual DNS change, lots of trouble shooting.

Cannot replicate any issues with ping and tracert to anything other than Blizzard. The second I touch anything blizzard, my pings shoot up.

I can use streaming at the same time, nothing really changes. Battlenet app, WHAM.

I asked because I know Overwatch servers moved from Amazon to Google datacenters (I do most of my tech supporting in that forum). However, I don’t know if WoW is the same. The Google datacenters caused problems for some Australian players, but not all.

I think at this point, you’ll want to open a ticket with the staff. They may have more insight as to why one app is causing this issue for you.

Okay. Thank you all for your help.

Will do a ticket.
