Death Grip is on the GCD, but only incurs a fractional GCD after use.
What’s so hard about accepting that the GCD incurred by the usage of Death Grip is actually a factor here?

No matter how you slice it, it’s too early to cry about Paladins having a leap. They don’t even have it yet. They’re getting a complete rework – heck they might be losing distance they could have traveled before… and on top of that, they’re probably not going to be as bursty afterwards. There are definitely gonna be tradeoffs coming.
Sounds like the plan is more consistent damage, a bit less burst, a bit more defensive, and a fun mobility move. At least wait till it’s actually a problem before complaining about it imo. That seems like it can only be good for the game.

Death Grip does not involve the same cost to your ability usage rate as other abilities.

It wasn’t on gcd before BFA, I don’t play DK so that small mechanical detail is easy to be ignorant about.
Everything you’re saying as to why ret doesn’t deserve a gap closer is ridiculous when you have better mobility than us while having arguably the best gap closer in the game
Two classes can break your shield. I can’t even use Astral Shift while stunned.

It can still be used to get you out of stuns and other CC’s. Paladins crying is hilarious.
No paladin uses bubble to get out of cc…

What I think is: there are much larger implications of adding a huge mobility ability across a whole class and not just a spec.
Now if Rets need it for PvP I would say yeah, fine. But now you’ll have Holy paladins also flying around LMAO and protection paladins also with huge mobility options.
We don’t simply know how next season dungeons will be beyond the other 4 (possibly) and 4 other dungeons to be chosen by Blizzard and next raid, but yeah, Protection paladins needing actually a “wings leap” like that? Better add this to all the tanks then.
If I’m dying yes, but not if I’m just stunned. You don’t have to be stunned to get railed.
Not against them getting a gap closer.
