Now bear in mind I’m by no means an expert, but one uses claws, and the other uses fists. Those are the main differences that I have seen.

As a feral main with some (but limited) WW experience, take this with a grain of salt. I find WW to be slightly quicker-paced and more forgiving. Feral can feel slow due to the all the DoT maintenance and relying on energy (especially with Blizzard’s weird haste hatred this expansion).
That said, the Druid Utility wins for me over monk. Both have the ability to switch to tank/heals spec when needed, which is helpful, but druids also have the ability to stealth as well as a talent which lets you take an off-spec ‘affinity’ (I prefer the Moonkin affinity as it allows me to more easily cast a few ranged spells when needed as well as that beautiful flap ability).
I’d say try them both, as they are very different play styles, and jut go with whichever seems more fun for you.
Ill add that comparing the 2, feral is super easy to play by pushing an ability when your weak aura tells you to and aoe is also much easier.
Windwalker is a pita in comparison, and the aoe priorities change with 2,5 ect enemies.
I love monks tank and heal specs, but never main one because of how windwalker plays.
For me, I think ww monk is the game’s funnest spec. This character started as an alt brought up during Legion pre-patch invasions, but became my main by Nighthold. karate chops topic
Feral was bottom of the charts when bfa came out. They did a terrible job with balanced classes. In legion both were too easy to put up numbers now they are average at best. I prefer monk because feral you have to manage 3 or 4 dots and they expire too quickly.
I play feral as my main and WW as my 2nd alt. I prefer Feral because i’m prioitizing M+ with my guild. Their AoE is insane depending on your talent/trait choice. If you plan to pug though, you’d have a much easier time getting in groups as a monk because of their utility and 5% physical damage debuff.
Feral is also amazing at world questing, world pvp, and battlegrounds. Monks are very good in battlegrounds and arenas from my experiance.
I also see a lot of people say that feral rotation is unforgiving. That is true, but that entirely depends on your choice of talents. If you go AoE spec, you have litteraly infinite energy with the Predator, Soul of the Forest, and Omen of Clarity talents. You will have energy issues if you instead go the sabertooth/blood talons route.
So I tried monk. The difference was night and day. With monk I actually had cleave damage worth a damn and I was no longer beneath the healer for dps in dungeons and I didn’t have to constantly pop in and out of forms to heal (which gets annoying on druid). Granted this is all low level but still. I don’t feel anywhere near as restricted on the monk as I do on the druid. Also the energy bar on monk seems to refill at twice the rate as it does on the druid. I think i’ll be sticking with monk for now and see how I go. I will miss the stealth and utility of the druid though.
Thanks for the replies.
Don’t waste your time on feral like I did. It’s a meme spec and you won’t be taken seriously.
Feral isn’t that bad, it just takes a melee spot and there’s a LOT better melee than a Feral. Warning you now
How does Monk play at 421+ ilvl? I’ve always wanted a monk (I adore Mistweavers). But I can only get into the 40-45 range before windwalker just bores me
I’m guessing you are referring to PvE because feral is an extremely good spec in 3v3 next to a fire mage, and a great world PvP spec as well (but that doesnt give gear so)
I love how they play, personally. I think the rotation has a nice flow to it (I like it better than other melee I have played/mained). But I was pretty in love with ww from the first time I played it during Legion pre-patch, so your mileage may vary.
If you are not 100% set on playing something and are deciding if a druid should take it’s place, take the druid. They are the most versatile class in the game for so many reasons I cannot be bother listing them all.
Indeed, it hurts the heart to leave the feral and its stealth/utilities… though, atm, that’s all it has and I simply went to WW monk after being the main target in 100% of comps in arenas, deing along with one of the enemies and watching the WW monk to wreck all the rest masterfully done. WW monk has SO MUCH potential in PvP… that i hope i’ll forget the warmth of the stealth
I understand you’re responding to someone else, but 4 months man.
The guy you’re responding to hasn’t posted since 12 January.
my main is WW monk and I do find it fun, ESPECIALLY its movement abilities making it very nice for traversing the world. I do find that WW can do pretty decent dmg but it all depends on lining up your Karma/MOD and making sure you pop it all and go ham during the burn phases. Outside of burn phases the DPS is pretty mediocre. Its funny Ill be at the top of parses for the first minute then drop down then 2 mins later shoot back up then drop back down. Rinse and repeat.
Its a fun spec, but it does require a little more work than other specs do to get the same or better DPS.
again though, the self healing is decent and the world traversal is aweesome.
All good, its more about a retoric question, since i’m experiencing the exact same thing: I mained a feral until 2 days ago… but it is REALLY difficult at so many aspects:
The only good things (and its really good) about ferals are the stealth and the WPvP, which is favorable for a disengage if you need. No more than that.
So i decided to go WW monk, bought a 120 boost for it cause i can’t stand crossing 120 levels all over again, now i’m working on gearing it up. No doubt it will be better at PvP than feral. Also more fun, since is no fun at all to get into an arena, burn your defensives expecting death to come just a little after.
what do you mean with ‘world transversal’ ?
like with Multiple movement speed increases it makes moving around very fast and easy. I am always the first to get somewhere. You dont realize how much time you save just running around the world when you have multiple abilities that speed up your move speed.
Trying to play some of my classes that have less movement speed is like pulling teeth after playing a Monk or DH.
I meant to say traversal, I am tanking a dungeon while typing this.
May be true, but I’ve run dungeons with kitties who finished over 85k.
Rogues are much higher of course, but they can’t heal, tank, or nuke.
