I guess ima hop on the bandwagon & just say WW monk feels incredibly worse now than it did before the prepatch.. why the hell you get rid of Storm Earth & Fire but give us an incredibly garbage useless ability like slicing wind? Now Xuen is baked into conduit of the celestial when it’s been part of the WW spec since I dunno forever? I don’t even see chiji no more either. The zen ability is pretty boring idk the spec was just fine before. Ion & Holly need to GO because the direction my game has gone into is absolute trash.
Hard disagree.
Outside of Slicing Wind (that was not added in this pre-patch anyway) that needs to be changed and detach movement from damaging spells, the spec feels good to play. SEF has always been a buggy mess, resulting in either WW to be busted or trash, I gladly see it gone (anyway it was never logical to have this as WW, based on WC3 lore). Zenith is just a renamed/rebranded Serinity, which always played fine.
Am I sad to see Xuen gone for Pansahan ? Sure, but it also makes more sense to have it baked into the Celestial hero talent and to be fair, it should be the same for MW. Looking at BrM it is anyway questionnable to have a pet that does nothing apart adding some flavor and wasting talent points.
Overall I like what they did with Monk, especially WW.
I dont think Windwalker feels that different during Pre-Patch. I barely had to change the priority lists in the guides since there wasn’t really much changed to how and when you press your buttons.
But damn…
I really enjoy SEF and Xuen being removed.
Lorewise WW should be the least reliant on ‘magic’ type attacks. Should be a straight Martial Artist who uses ‘chi’ to enhance their combat prowess.
Zenith perfectly fits this thematically imo.
I was a bit sad at first. As a new Remix Monk, I got to experience SEF and ‘direct’ Xuen for a short time and really liked them a lot. So I sulked when they were pulled/merged.
But I’ve adapted and got over it now, and am playing quite happily again.
I think I will actually take this class into Midnight as my ‘main’, as I am having more fun with it than any other. This is more than can be said for my ‘usual ‘ main of BM Hunter which has been absolutely eviscerated and lost its balance altogether.
I still can’t make any sense of Slicing Wind though, and I ignore that one like the plague ![]()
I’m fine with the changes. From my testing, our abilities hit decently hard. I did not take Slicing Winds because it didn’t seem appealing. Storm, Earth, and Fire was buggy since it was added, so I like Zenith much as I once liked Serenity. I did enjoy Xuen, but it was jarring thematically going from serene martial artist to celestial summoner. Shado-pan spec feels just as great as it did in TWW.
Is it?
My favorite part of serenity was that it increased healing, Zenith doesn’t do that correct? Atleast I definitely don’t see that mentioned in it tooltip.
I also prefer serenity’s aesthetic over how zenith looks. Perhaps I would like zenith more if it only made our hands glow.
I’m not even a Naruto fan, but the zenith animation reminds me of Might Guy powering up. The additional effects make it feel a lot more fun and impactful to match the “come get some” vibe of the ability.
I’ll miss the spirit clones because it’s an iconic effect, but Zenith is growing on me.
I will never forgive them for putting whirling dragon punch and strike of the windlord on a choice. AND hiding it behind a one pump chum cooldown.
