Windows Service Wrapper - Computer Fans in Overdrive

I’m having a weird WOW issue today after servers came up.

The game is operating fine, but after being in game for 15-20 mins my computer fans kick into high mode. Nothing unusual depending on where/what I’m doing, but usually it’s just for a few seconds then they go back to idle. Today they are staying on continuously even after exiting the game.

Before exiting I looked at Task Manager but didn’t see anything unusual. After exiting and the fans kept going I looked at Task Manager again & noticed WOW was still running as if not shut down (CPU & memory usage) but it was listed as running under the Widows Service Wrapper process along with WMI Provider Host.

This occurs with or without Add-ons enabled. I rebooted computer, same thing. Only computer change I’ve had today was WOW. I had no issues during several PTR sessions the past couple months testing the new content.

When I close the WOW process under the Windows Service Wrapper my fans go back to idle.

Me issue? Patch issue?

I’ve also noticed this problem. I’ve completely exited the game yet it’s still appearing on the task manager until I manually close it.

Yeah the same thing is happening to me.

Out of no where, fans start cranking and only force closing the game resolves it.
Tried with and without addons and nothing makes a difference.

Edit: It wasn’t under Windows Service Wrapper for me, but there’s a ‘ghost’ wow process that stays active after closing just as described

I noticed my CPU jumped to and stayed at ~80C regularly after playing for half an hour; something that never happened before 11.2. I lowered the max turboboost speed to get them back down, but I’m glad to see I’m not alone in this.

I thought I was crazy. I’ll be playing for 20-30 min and then I go from 60 (or sub-60) to ~80C and my fans go crazy. It doesn’t stop until I shut down WoW, and then I have to manually close it in the task manager even after exiting.

I have ALL addons turned off and it still happens. This is a major issue and Blizz needs to figure out what is causing WoW to increase the CPU draw like that.

Need more visibility on this, my CPU is also heating up after like 30 minutes of play and I have to manually close WoW via the task manager even after exiting.

I’m also having the same issue.

Adding to the chorus. I use Core Temp to monitor my CPU and after a bit of playtime, 20-30 minutes, at least two CPU cores are hopping between 80-85 degrees C. I’ve also noticed that the game doesn’t shut down properly unless forced to in the Task Manager.

My fans are noisier than usual as well.

Update FWIW:

Things seem stable so far today. Fans aren’t getting speed tested and logging out is normal. I did see there was an update, but I’ve been avoiding new zones and playing in old expansion areas.

I have same problem, only takes about 2 minutes for my fans to go nuts. This started after updating my Nvidia driver. If I exit Wow the fans will start slowing and back to normal. Also notice a full white screen when launching the game. Started with new content launch, Ghost of Kareesh.

I have an Alienware Aurora desktop. when i first got it, it ran fine and so quiet while playing WoW. Now, the minute i log on, the fans run on high the whole time. I run two monitors so i can use a browser on one. If i click to the browser monitor (wow still running on the other) the fans slow down to normal. Click back to gaming monitor they crank up again. Ive lowered settings in the game and computer, dusted it, etc and still dont understand why it cranks up now when it didnt before. Im open to any suggestions or help in this matter. The constant high fans running is irritating so loud.
