I had queued up for a premade mythic plus and got accepted to a group. Then immediately on joining a little window popped up saying: “Windows Defender Firewall has blocked some features of this app.” Below that: “Name: World of Warcraft Voice Proxy.” Then at the bottom there was a button that read: “Allow access.” I did not push this button, not sure what was going on and having no idea what to make of it–and wondering if some security issue had somehow surfaced.
What I did notice was that the three already in the group were from the same server, in the same guild, and in the short span of three seconds or less one managed to ask (type, not speaking) a question about keys and the others got out super fast comments about their keys in chat before I was ejected from the group. There was also this command in the chat window: !keys.
I have no idea what happened or caused this and wonder if anyone can tell me what happened. This has never happened before.
The !keys command is either a weak aura or addon regarding mplus keys. I have the same issue with the firewall popup window. I searched and there were a lot of posts about blizzard’s voice chat and how to use task manager to stop the proxy but not many addressing WHY this popped up now for some people. This close to a new xpac I don’t want to be digging through files trying to fix something to either get an update or utilize a program that may be necessary (or not) for proper CPU usage. Hopefully someone addresses this question, @Fourleaf.
Holy zero response from Blizzard to an issue, as well. But thanks for talking. Don’t you have a trade chat to troll?
What trade chat? My server hasn’t had trade chat since WoD at least.
And if you have a problem, make a new thread. Forum necromancy is frowned upon.
The voice proxy is harmless, it’s the in game voice chat. I’ve also never had defender block anything of blizzards once I allowed it’s Agent.
But keep being snarky. It’s cute.
