Windows 11 free upgrade ending mid 2022

Since the launch of Windows 11 in October, we have seen strong demand and preference for Windows 11 with people accepting the upgrade offer to Windows 11 at twice the rate we saw for Windows 10. Windows 11 also has the highest quality scores and product satisfaction of any version of Windows we’ve ever shipped. Product quality was a huge focus for the team, and we took a deliberate and phased approach to how we rolled out the upgrade. Today, we’re excited to share that the upgrade offer to Windows 11is beginning to enter its final phase of availability putting us ahead of our initial plan of mid-2022.

better make a decision on staying on 10 or 11

Good. Maybe that means they’ll stop trying to shove win11 down my throat.

That’s probably all it means, the upgrade will still be available it just won’t be popping up incessantly. And they’ll be pushing less updates to windows 10.

I have heard a lot of bad reviews about Windows 11. However, I may be too optimistic in hoping that Microsoft will pulls a “Legion,” which is that updates down the road will eventually make Windows 11 a popular and successful OS.

That said, my current rigs will remain in Windows 7 and Windows 10. If I want a Windows 11, I will buy a machine (with up-to-date hardware) built by the factory for Windows 11.

I’ve been running 11 on my desktop and ultrabook for a while now. It has its annoyances but as a whole not really worse than 10. Neither 10 or 11 is as good as 7 was though. I really wish Microsoft would add a way to configure the shell style to your preference, so if you want a Win7 style workspace (with added niceties like 11’s virtual desktop support) you can do so without a pile of third party software and hacks.

I would consider switching to Linux where the user has the ultimate control over their desktop but I play a lot of VR which has practically no support under Linux, even though most regular Windows games can be played under it fine.
