When I think enhancement – all I think is Windfury.
My brain goes to an old place. A big angry cow wielding a pig on a stick with two hands – walking up to you and chaining enough damage to send your entire family tree to narnia.
I don’t know how we got here from there.
I feel a bit let down really.
Now the class fantasy is like… a meme DnD build “Orc that is too dumb to use wands correctly, so he beats the enemy with them until magic comes out.” Which is it’s own kind of entertaining I guess. It does good damage… those tempest procs feel pretty amazing. Not here to dispute the effectiveness of Enhancement or anything like that.
I’m just kinda surprised that this is the direction they took the spec instead.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Except it was you doing that to a drooling toddler and then getting put into the ground by anybody who was remotely competent at PvP back in the day.
The only people that feel that way are people who long to play vanilla but can’t handle playing classic where people actually know how to play the game.

To be fair to his point, Blizz could do more with Windfury to make it more mechanically rewarding rather than it just kinda being there with only okay damage during Doomwinds.
It is the most iconic thing about Enhance, people are perfectly justified in feeling it should be better utilized than it is currently.

Fair but wanting Windfury white hits to suddenly come back and be the main contributor to Enhance’s damage profile is a not realistic considering current design…which was the whole reason vanilla enhance was even remotely interesting and what people (and OP) are primarily referencing .

I think weapon imbues would be pretty interesting as having some kind of passive effect that buffs an active ability.
For example.
Windfury weapon causes a % of your physical damage to be dealt as nature damage. (Bypassing armor)
Flametongue weapon makes your auto attacks apply flame shock to the target when you lava lash.
Then bring back more imbues and give them special options as well …
I always sorta liked having 4 imbues so I could swap between them depending on the combat situation …

Ok, but that is also the most prevalent example of when Windfury felt like a meaningful part of your “kit”, of course people are going to mention it when the topic comes up. It was also strong in early-mid SL but less people are going to use that as an example because almost nobody stuck around during that time.
They could have more direct stuff where you kick up the winds thus kicking up melee speed and having a small damage aoe around you based on keeping the winds up somehow. Then another talent where you can charge it with nature damage cause you added earth element to it to make static sand storm.
They actually had a talent like that In legion called windsong where You cast it and it increased your weapon speed for like 18s. Then another one called fury of air that constantly used up maelstrom to make an aoe around you.
Trueeeeeeee, even in SoD with hella buffs to 2h enhance in PvP, it gets stomped by any melee because praying for windfury to do damage and watch it get mitigated to all hell.
I’ve longed for the day for 2H enhance to be a thing again. The problem is that the game’s dependence on white damage has diminished. It’s action combat now, auto’s are just for procs. They’d have to turn Enhance into a pseudo-Arms warrior to get the same kind of effect.
If stormflurry amped repeated stormstrikes rather than diminished them then it would pretty much be a modern version of vanilla windfury autos. Then all we missing is 2h capability returned.
Please hold your breath on that.
Sounds awful.
If anything I think they would just make something active with the passive effect of Windfury. Something like every Windfury hit generates a stack of a buff up to like 200 or something. Then at 50 stacks you get to use some melee ability hit that hits your target for a stupid big it. Since its useable at 50 but stacks to 200 you can play around with it. That way the RNG factor of windfury is there and as you get more and more stacks you get the rush wait for that big WHAM. Would be a pretty cool funnel ability for Storm builds.

Basically I guess lmao. I think they’re find with where windfuy is and is personally was a fan of Doomwinds + Windfury cleave. I think they’ve been really lazy with doing neat stuff with it.
Yeah they really don’t like to push the boundaries. But hey, at least doom winds does an aoe next patch. That’s kind of neat.
