Digging through logs I’ve noticed that the wind serpents lighting breath has a zero or extremely low chance to miss compared to a cat/raptor’s bite and claw. I assume this is because it’s considered both a spell and ranged attack and double dipping the hit% we get? Sense all the hit % on gear and buffs give melee, ranged and spell hit chance. This makes wind serpents better in raids over cat/raptor’s but while fighting against lower levels or equal levels the cat/raptor does more damage cause they are not missing in my experience. In raids the bite/claw on average miss 15% of the time compared to the wind serpents breath 0-2% miss chance I see on average. Is this intended or a bug? Also while on the subject, is lighting breath affected by boss resistance? I never see it being resisted unless fighting a mob 4+ levels.
I agree, nerf paladins.
I swear that in actual Vanilla, my Wind Serpent’s breath would be resisted like ~15% - 20% of the time, maybe it was due to higher mob spell resist which SoD apparently nerfed, like in BFD. It made them annoying to use.
Also we had caster pets back then, basically lots of animals with mana bars that’d cast spells (IE wind serpents) would have caster stats like a robe wearer, meaning less armor and thus such pets were weak and undesirable, after you tamed them.
When they remade Vanilla as Classic, they got rid of those glitched pets. It was due to a bug that they existed in the first place.
But yeah, Wind Serpents have never been this strong in the entire history of WoW.
The biggest benefit wind serpents will have is that since it’s a ranged casted ability it shouldn’t have the chance to be parried, blocked which is probably happening to claw/bite, its also nature damage which few things probably have any real resists to at this point.
At 60 we will see how it balances out, but I suspect you will see owls (screech) and wind serpents end game, also pets damage will likely shift as Marks and Survival potentially become more viable in later phases, and potentially start out damaging BM.
I say nerf shamans and the problem is solved
I gotta say, of all the new or surprising things introduced in SoD, the power of hunter pets is the biggest.
All this theorycrafting about runes and the meta and stuff in the lead up to SoD and it turns out the big reveal is that hunter pet power is just insane lol.
Maybe that and greenches lol
Wait till warriors next phase.
Hunter pets will be in the past.
the pet is going to be big and red and immune to cc, with even more focus regen
I know what we will have that’s why I know people won’t really be crying about us in the forums because I know what others will have.
Wait till you see warriors.
Yeah warriors are pretty much going to be inescapable death machines with two in combat charges that stun thanks to warbringer and massive damage with gnomer weaps. The tears will flow.
Yeah these people have no idea
