He’s already basically an “Alliance Forsaken” like Faol.
I’m still holding out hope that Calia will be a big bad. If we’re only so lucky.
Calia being in the Alliance story, even just as a name drop or an allusion in post raid dialogue, justifies Teldrassil and everything else Sylvanas has ever done 1000 times over.
As long as Calia exists, there is never anything wrong with anything done against the Alliance.
This is a fact.
Let’s hope Derek’s true target is a Menethil, one can dream…
I’m torn.
On one hand, I think that Caliaforging won’t actually be a thing that is implemented en masse (or, potentially, at all), as it will be a one off event.
On the other hand, obviously, its being hinted that it will be - and I would then agree that Zelling absolutely would be one of her acolytes. But then I start to think, which faction would it belong to? It definitely wouldn’t be alliance, but I don’t think it would work as a horde one - so must it, then, be a neutral faction? 99.9999999999999999999999999% of forsaken are from Lordaeron, and most of that rather large percentage is loyal to Sylvanas, who definitely would not like the Menethil slag (her words, not mine!) usurping her, or “stealing” her people. Or something.
It really doesnt.
All this triggering over Calia and potential Alliance Undead makes me really hope the race happens now.
Besides the “heroic undead” trope would actually be a breath of fresh air in this setting.
We don’t even know if there’s any “lightforged undead” other than Calia, right? She could be leading living humans who want to reclaim Lordaeron for all we know.
They are about as “undead” as Draenei robots are. Which is to say, a spirit in a pretty pretty body that isn’t really “undead”.
we are the forgiven,we redeem everyone who stands in our way.
You are saying that a person has to be born from Fel and Death Magic combined(Scourge Undead Plague is specifically stated to be Demonic and Necromantic Magics combined) to be Undead?
I on the other hand believe that any reanimated Corpse, Ghost or Soul-Bound Construct is Undead by definition no matter what condition they are in! Even the Mogu’s Terracotta minions created from Spirit-binding are true Undead in my opinion!
Well, we don’t even know what they will look like. Even the word “lightforged undead” is a catchall word people are using to overblow and whine about something we know nothing about yet.
But given how BtS set things up, it’s not surprising that there are Undead who are wanting to reclaim their Lordaeron heritage, cultural practices at all, whereas others have split into being staunch Sylvanas loyalists who want to bring back the Scourge in some form.
… I’m sorry, but what?
You can’t just glide past “given how BtS set things up.” There was no contradiction in being a Forsaken and caring about your Lordaeron heritage before that book happened.
Aside from the plague, building abominations, meat wagons, Dark Rangers, every single name being changed to “Death” or “Dark” for their military?
The Forsaken have overall been a mockery of Lordaeron’s heritage, I think it’s high time they actually started becoming honest about it instead of lying to themselves. It’s a lot more refreshing.
Maybe you should explain what you mean when you say “Lordaeron’s heritage.”
Forsaken leveling quests show that Forsaken remember their previous lives and are not forbidden to think about them.
There are history books scattered all over the city, not being confiscated by thought police.
Even now, Sylvanas gives a speech every year at Hallow’s End about the continuity between their lives in Lordaeron before being made undead, and after.
BtS was a huge, unwelcome retcon and should be rejected vigorously.
What it originally was in WC3, the culture of it, the Light worship, and everything else.
The Forsaken don’t really respect any of that and are a perversion of what it once was. I honestly think Sylvanas has only ever cared about trying to play up the Lordaeron aspect just to get them riled and willing to fight for her, it’s always been a publicity stunt, but the Forsaken themselves don’t really respect any of the culture. They just use it to fuel their persecution complex.
To be honest I don’t really like that, I think them just deciding to become their own whole culture and leaving the Lordaeron past behind is much better for them and arguably what’s already in effect.
I honestly personally disagree given the kind of character Sylvanas is and the culture the Forsaken have fostered. They are much more resembling of a second Scourge, albeit with its own differences, than they ever have the Lordaeron of WC3. That was always true, even before the book came out.
All the more reason this plot is absolute trash. We already have a Scourge. And Player Deathknights are members of the Scourge. Sylvanas and a handful of Arthas’ pet Valkyr can’t beat the Scourge at it’s own game.
Sylvanas and the Forsaken were butchered by BtS, by a writer that has obviously never played a single level of the Forsaken story. A writer that never cared about them before. A writer that wrote them to be the weakest most pathetic wretches she could conceive of, so that her perfect fictional son could save them from their abusive tormentor, who was planned to oppose her perfect child.
Absolute garbage.
They could be redemption equals death personified. As in the only way to redeem our enemies is to kill them!
They could be just as zealous as the lightforged draenei but have their own justification for being so.
