pfffffft, maybe what you mean to say is “The new UI does almost everything extra that I use Elvui for” The new UI does not do anywhere near the amount of things Elvui can do.
But Elvui is what you want it to be. It doesn’t have to look the way you’ve seen, it doesn’t have to change your frames at all if that bothers you, it’s modular so you can turn off what you don’t like.
You quoted the wrong person
You don’t have to reword anything as I understand what you meant now.
I, already, don’t use a lot of addons. Most of it is just, non combat, QoL stuff like scrap/bagnon/auction/Map. And they have shown nothing that the stock UI will get to compensate for those. So I will likely keep them.
Bagnon will likely stay for me. Having 1 big bag is nice … but it is, by far, not the main reason I use it. Also, sexymap will almost definitely stay, unless they add a stock UI option for a square mini-map AND coords. Won’t be getting rid of scrap … I’m not clicking my greys one at a time to sell them. Don’t know about auctioneer yet. Haven’t used the auction house in a long time, outside of buying a couple things on occasion. So I’m not even 100% sure how the current AH is fully set up.
I don’t use bartender since WA allows me to put icons anywhere I want.
The really big one for me is →
This 100%. In all reality WA is, almost, the only addon you need for the UI. There are very few UI addons made that can’t be duplicated with WA.
I will wait till release to see how many auras I can trim down. But there’s no way they will add enough customization to the stock UI that I will get rid of WA.
No matter how the frames and bars are set up you instantly know that someone is using ElvUI or not. There’s obviously a thematic visual thread that runs throughout it.
It feels severe and not fantasy like at all, there’s no way to change that if it isn’t your aesthetic. Using a mishmash of the base UI and Elv doesn’t work either.
Eh, I’ve been using the default Blizz set-up for 15 years now and, clunky or not, I’ve grown used to it and created a standard set-up that works for me as an open world player. I’ll just replicate that set-up with the new settings and eventually forget it was ever any other way.
While the new UI options in Dragonflight are actually pretty good, they aren’t quite as good as what addons offer in many cases.
Will I still use Bartender/PerlClassicUnitFrames/Lunarsphere in Dragonflight? Yes. But if for any reason I can’t use my addons? Then the new UI options coming in Dragonflight will make things a lot more comfortable for me until my addons are usable again.
Hopefully Kaliel will be better soon, he is in hospital apparently according to update he provided on the addon website via curse and why he hasn’t been able to update for Wrath Classic.
I’m a RPer and casual PVE player. The only addons I really use are Bartender, Grid, and Total Roleplay 3.
I’ll likely try out the new default action bar to see if it can replace Bartender. And if they develop a workable Grid replacement, I’ll try that out as well.
But I don’t see Blizzard going out of their way to implement the functionality of RP addons like TRP3, so I won’t be getting rid of that.
I’d like to see sorting based on expansion pack (color coded frame) ability to see inventory/bank on alts (perhaps transfer between alts without the ‘log on/log off’ whoops ‘log back on/log back off’
wish list would include copying entire profile/add-on profile across toons without dinking in file explorer.
I will keep Z Pearl more than Likely. Because I like the 3d character portrait. Why they haven’t added a 3d character portrait already after all these years idk. Rare scanner will keep also. Dps meter I only use when I’m at a target dummy practicing a different rotation. Tbh those are the only addons I have besides Questie for classic.
This is the “Debug” info provided by ArkInventory, it’s basically what is returned by the
API provided by Blizzard. It’s the Jeeves item engineers can make, notice at the bottom what expansion it says it’s from There’s lots of items that don’t have the correct information. One guy made a plugin for ArkInventory https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/df-arkinventory-rules that has all the correct information for just reagents (not crafted items). So in order for Blizz to give you what you want they’d have to go through
EVERY ITEM IN THE GAME
And make sure the expansion return value is correct As much as I’d like it I don’t see them doing that lol.
I’ll be keeping my Elvui for the time being. My priest has all bars showing on it and unfortunately, at least for the moment, the new Bliz UI doesn’t have that option.
I also like the fact that I can increase/decrease opaqueness of windows and maps. Elvui has more options for font sizes and options for more visible data information (coords, durability, fps, ms, etc.) I can also resize and move other elements that the Beta UI doesn’t have the option for.
