I’m hoping to use less but based on what I’ve seen there are some gaps that need to get filled first:
Information tracking FPS/Latency/Gold/Loot spec yes I could do these with WA but eh…
Nameplates, As a tank I need nameplates that track threat. I may try plater but we’ll see I currently like elvui for this
Unitframes, The current default personal and target uniframes are atrocious. Allegedly there may be work happening here but this is a major one that would prevent me from removing addons. I use stock party and raid frames already and set both to raid style with class colors.
Buff/Debuff management: They need to separate out combat buffs/debuffs into their own separate bars otherwise WAs is mandatory here. Ideally class critical buffs will get their own custom UI as well.
It was funny, the first day beta went live someone asked in chat if you could make the minimap square and someone was like “Square?!?” It surprised me, I thought most people at least knew about square minimap.
I don’t think you can move it, I don’t see an option for that.
Which I don’t want to do! I have them visible all the time. Having to hover over something when I have a massive lag spike is a waste of time.
They do not! Those include non-combat buffs and other garbage that is irrelevant to the fight at hand and can be left up in some random corner of the screen.
I will still be using Elvui, the addon is just too powerful and I like the skins it provides.
Yes there are updates that seem to happen every two weeks sometimes even more but oh well. It’s quick, and since you can /reload to refresh addons it’s easy to do when playing the game.
Probably keep all my same addons, not a big fan of the gryphons and all the gaudy flare on the base UI. I like clean lines and a minimalistic look. Can really only get that with addons.
In terms of combat UI, they didn’t really do enough to replace weak auras. Not even close actually, but I believe that was their intention
WoW’s endgame has gotten a lot harder and more complicated.
Back in the day, you could clear most end-game by just pressing frostbolt over and over with stock UI.
They are.
But unfortunately we can’t put filters on these buffs so these bars can get gummed up by all sorts of nonsense. You also only get 1 of each.
Biggest limitation of stock UI in DF is the inability to make clones of UI elements. You’re limited to 5 action bars, you’re limited to 1 buff bar and 1 debuff bar with no customization, there’s no custom weak auras, etc.
The difficulty doesn’t matter, I learned what I needed by playing, watching videos and talking to other players. I would imagine new players don’t want to invest that time. If I could travel back in time I could easily setup my past self in less than 15 minutes but that 15 minutes of knowledge was learned over years of play.
Maybe you’re misunderstanding, I think my point will be more clear if I say it like a jerk:
Why can’t new players learn what they need over time like players have done since the game has come out?
The difficulty doesn’t matter when my point is that if you play and seek to improve you’ll learn what you need no matter how difficult the content is.
Because those players don’t have 20 years to learn everything they need to learn. They’ll have maybe 7 days to go from leveling up to wanting to raid, or less time than that transitioning from leveling to dungeons / M0s.
I really like the new UI changes. I will not use an add-on to change the UI. I minimized my bars to 75% with little padding. It’s very clean. You can hide the bar art. Also, you can choose between modern and classic UI. You don’t have to use the UI features if you don’t want to use it. Took me a second to find all the options & get used to where everything is located. I will continue to use WAs and my healer add-ons but this is a big step in the right direction imo
