I came over to WoW this past week from ESO and I am swept. Moving with one hand, the very distinct classes, the music, etc. is just done better. I even prefer the livelier graphics. However, many people are looking out for AoC. I feel like it could go two ways: a giant disappointment, or groundbreaking. I think that the more hype there is, the higher the chance of disappointment. Thoughts,
Wow will absolutely still be #1 lol.
Ashes looks super promising and I hope they succeed in the biggest way BUT we have been down this road many times.

Best joke all year. This is basically Shadowlands 2 and that will really sink in after the honeymoon phase is over and people start wanting the divorce. The future of WoW is most likely a Free to Play with an even bigger cash shop. Now if you had come 16 years ago asking the same thing I would have said this is a great game with a company who cares about quality and its customers, sadly that ship left the harbor and sank long ago. Just ask anyone still waiting for their 28 days to get an automated response to their ticket that doesnt help them at all.

It’s a forced-PvP game.
It will not be bigger than WoW because forced PvP has been proven time and time and time again to be catastrophically bad for an MMO in this current day and age.

The only MMO coming out, that even seems like it could compete with WoW, would be Riots MMO.
But as others have said many have tried and most have failed.
I don’t know if wow will be number 1 or top mmorpg. Doesn’t matter as long as enough people still play and new content is being made and I find it fun.
I saw the fight over the forced open world PvP content and knew AoC is totally doomed.
Full-stop. No game with forced PvP is even going to nip at WoW’s heels.

This expansion is horrible but the people who bootlick will scream how wrong you are once the hype runs out in a few weeks it’s going to look like new world around here
isnt ashes a PVP game? Its going to stay at a low population or crash and burn within a few years. PVP games no longer do all that well, people dont have the time or want to play them like they do mostly PVE games like wow
yep. even many on the classic 99% pvp servers aren’t there for the open world pvp lol.
they are essentially pve servers who jsut have an easier time finding arena partners than say a pve server does.
