Blizzard “recommends” 8gb of RAM for Shadowlands.
Requires only 4gb.
We’re way way off from WoW “requiring” 32gb of RAM.
The answer is Yes. Gaming will continue to not only invent new games, but for some reason, new requirement to play those games. In the year 2200, you will need to regularly upgrade the memory of your holocube.
Looking at SL requirements, lowest is 4gig recommended is 8. And those are the new buff stats this computer can’t handle (even though I have 8 gigs, it’s all old). As the game slowly gets more graphics intense it’s bound to happen, but I’m guessing we’re at least 5 or more years out from that.
Nope. After Shadowlands, WoW will require 64GB of ram with 2TB of Free Space on any disc drive…
/sarcastic laugh
If WoW ever got a new engine (highly doubtful) it would likely be GPU-centric and so more video card memory might be required. But 32gb of system RAM? WoW will likely be abandoned before that day arrives.
Considering most games don’t go above 8gb and the highest is 32gb and the norm is 8-16gb for gaming, possibly 2035 or later. In other words, not for a very long time really.
Well, i say 8-16 gb is the norm, if your going for a budget but still want to game, 8 will suit you fine. If you have enough, then 16 will do just about fine cause like i said, most games don’t go above 8gb, and even if they do, they don’t go above 16gb. Any more then that is overkill for gaming, unless your doing 3D modeling or doing robotics, etc.
“Ever” is a long time…
I just upgraded from 16 to 32GB about a week ago. While not needed to run the base game, with the addons I use, loading times were taking a bit longer than I wanted. Most it was just lagging out Netflix and YouTube on the second monitor.
Ended up just doing a full replacement of my ram which was cheaper.
I run 64gb of ram because I refuse to ever close a chrome tab even when the same page is already opened!
