I am trying to get some of my non-Blizzard/WoW friends to come try Hardcore Classic but a lot of them are turned off by having to maintain a monthly sub.
One of them for example pays for Netflix monthly, YouTube Premium, and he also has a Spotify and an Amazon Prime membership.
He doesn’t feel comfortable adding on another $15 subscription to play a single game, and for me I don’t really mind as I played WoW for a long time now but I can see how this can be a problem for other people outside of the Blizzard ecosystem.
Would there be any chance the sub gets removed down the line? We would see far more people willing to give WoW a shot if it wasn’t behind a monthly paywall.
If they feel they get their money’s worth out of those entertainments, why would they not get the same thing from a WoW sub? The value of entertainment is entirely subjective. They would either have fun, or not. If the proverbial ‘he’ doesn’t feel the game is worth 50c a day to play, then what else is there to say?
Maybe but your ‘friend’ will probably be disinterested waiting around that long to find out.
It probably doesn’t since you can play WoW actively for many hours a week , and you are unlikely to sit around on your couch watching Amazon Prime vids for the same amount of time.
That’s an unprovable generalisation. I played WoW for an unhealthy amount of time when I started since I was hooked from Day 1.
Look, I’m not getting into a pointless comparison between Amazon Prime content and WoW content - as I said, its subjective. If your ‘friend’ likes it, they like it. If not, they can always go back to watching stuff on TV.
I disagree. I only use prime for the free shipping since I shop a lot on amazon. I spend more time playing wow than I do watching prime, and I don’t spend much time on wow anymore. I never watch prime.
Well he’d be getting two games technically. Good luck trying to sell a non WoW player on a game where they invest dozens of hours of time and lose everything upon death.
