With 8.3 dead in the water and growing more stale and stale while we wait for Shadowlands… bored, decided to play some Hearthstone (haven’t in a long while), and realized during a match “hey! that’s a Worgen Paladin!”.
Which is a character/minion class named: Lightfang Enforcer
Here’s the art from the card: https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/hearthstone_gamepedia/c/c0/Lightfang_Enforcer_full.jpg
The expansion in which this character is from was only recently released last year… so can this be a sign that we can possibly see this spread to World of Warcraft and Worgen players finally be allowed to roll a Paladin?
Lorewise as far as I am aware, there really isn’t anything stopping Worgens from becoming paladins. Speculation from players in the past have used the excuse that “Worgen are too feral inside to truly embrace the Light as paladins do”, however considering that Worgen can already use the light and become priests, in addition to the fact that other races in Warcraft lore over the years who should not be capable of becoming paladins have became paladins, Lothraxion comes to mind, and now you have this Hearthstone character class which shows clearly that Worgens can become Paladins… so why not in WoW as of yet?
Please make this a thing during Shadowlands.

Well there is that whole race/faction should have a “light” organization in order to be paladins and you do have that big cathedral in Gilneas City, so who knows. But its highly plausible.
that and them hanging out with the night elves who pretty much was one giant light beacon under tyrande before their tree burned down and associating with paladins of stormwind, light’s hope, etc during the years of campaigns and wars together… yeah.
People used to say that it’s due to their curse that they can’t but the Worgen curse is more of a Nature disease than an actually unholy curse.
In theory, especially since they are, you know, still humans, there shouldn’t be really anything stopping them from learning from their Stormwind cousins, since, unlike Kul’Tirans, Gilneans worship the Light.
Probs not i wear that set on my worgen warrior right now and still glow gold.

I mean they’re technically humans right? And I don’t think the curse prevents them from wielding light either. Paladin Worgens would be pretty awesome.
I would love that so much. That is all I ever wanted. I wouldn’t play anything else.
using the “they can be priests” argument isnt strong enough. by that definition void elf paladins would be able to happen.

Take everything you see in Hearthstone with a grain of salt. Just because they’re doing some weird race/class combos there doesn’t mean it will ever happen on WoW because Hearthstone can do things that are not canon to the lore of WoW.

I’m not holding out any great hopes for Worgen Pallys any time soon.
That being said, if that art is meant to be one, it would seem sweet…
I would race change in a heatbeat just because of how goofy Worgen Paladin animations would look.
Worgen with angelic wings? Oh my god. Yes.
I mean… i want a Kultiran Paladin.
And they had a Kultiran paladin in warcraft 3.
They keep on shoving this drust or the water that gives us both priest and shaman business at us.
My kultirans worship the light.
Hearthstone also has Lich King Malfurion. And I guess it had a Draenei Warlock… Can’t remember. The game has strange combinations.
That said, nothing stops Worgen from being Paladins. Their two besties use the light. I’d say they could be moon Paladins alongside NE, but can also go for the human light faith, too.
No. The light forsook them when they turned to a more animal basis.
The light does not work with animals. The animal based loa powered z troll paladins are merely a figment of your imagination. /s
As far as I’m concerned, worgen are dead in the water with their current animations.
My warlock lunges to an acute 30° angle from the ground in when he’s channeling something. Absolutely bizarre.
With the new starting zone coming in Shadowlands, it’s possible that some old race/class limitations no longer apply. Worgen couldn’t be monks because the worgen starting zone occurred before meeting the Pandaren. Since then, some worgen could have joined the monk and paladin orders, and those are the ones in the new Shadowland starting zone.
Night elves don’t have anything to do with the Light.
Originally they couldn’t because Worgens were an aberration and Paladins aren’t just Priests in plate, they’re infused with the light. Sort of like a battery. So the Worgen curse shouldn’t affect them in the same way they were immune to the plague of undeath originally.
Considering the current direction Blizzard has there is absolutely no justifiable lore reason Worgens shouldn’t be able to be paladins.
Neither did the blood elves.
Until they hit a bad patch of luck…twice…and became mana junkies.
In strife and turmoil some found something in the light.
I know this would be a stretch for the night elves. It’s not like they haven’t lost anything recently. Right?
cant find it in game where it says that the paladin is “infused with the light” it just says “paladins are heavily-armoured fighters and defenders who use Holy magic to heal wounds and combat evil.” at no point does it say infused (like a battery) and considering the void elf can be a priest who wields holy magic (2 specs) why cant they too be paladins?
