Will we ever see Player Housing?

If WoW could bring into game play the type of housing and other parts that are in Palia now it would be fanatics for sure…heck it would properly bring back players to the game…and with our professions we could in game expand the stuff for housing even more and have stuff you could make and sell on the AH…as for Palia they don’t allow selling of house stuff which is sad…but that could be easily done with WoW…

Singularity 6 is some former WoW devs, too. And I’m still convinced the name came from that Tuskaar village in Borean Tundra, Pal’ea.

THIS. I have to leave my house to do stuff in Org (AH, monthly tokens, world events, etc), but I LIVE IN ORGRIMMAR. It should feel like my HOME. The garrison was fun. A lot of fun even, but it felt like it was out in Nowheresville. Not even a portal to Org unless you specced your garrison for it. A portal from Org to your garrison (and back) would have been perfect.

Wasn’t there a rumor of 11.0 having a ship as garrison-on-the-go for housing?

I think they were… just, the worst possible version of housing.

Like, imagine you spend money to buy a house in real life but other people live in it and decorate it and then you become the butler.

That’s basically what we got with garrisons. We built someone else a house so that they could make us do chores in it.

So I guess Blizzard invented NPC housing?

Keep asking, they’ll eventually give it. Feels like a ton of other MMO’s have some sort of player housing.

The question isn’t if we’ll get it, it’s will it be good when we get it.

Its just what? 20 years of WoW, they gave us garrisons and it failed miserably, so I’m guessing that it wont happen again

Garrisons weren’t player housing, it was an expansion gimmick just like class halls and covenant halls.

They were planned to be, but it failed. That was their shot on it, and im sure they wont try creating player housing again

Not sure you can say it was planned to be when they planned for them to be obsolete after WoD.

You can still go there and play housing if you want. You can invite friends over and stuff, but it was planned to be more customizable

Games not as popular or busy as it was. So likely not worth the money. It’s not safe to put in that amount of time or money into wow when its as it is ATM.

Safer to do minimal updates and expansion with small additions. Least that’s how I see it. Wows not recovered from SL

The WOD garrison was ment to be more but fell flat like the expansion. But came clear they were too ambitious and everything tons of content was scrapped and they rushed us out.

Garrison was the player houses not that never came to be because it was in a bad expansion.

I’m aware, I go to mine every time I run WoD raids for transmog, but there was never a plan for them to be sustained long term. There’s nothing to do there that’s even remotely relevant to anything after WoD ended. It’s no different than Legion class halls now.

It wasn’t an attempt at player housing, it was an attempt to satiate the players desires for player housing that didn’t work because it wasn’t player housing.

Potato potato, my friend . You wanted player housing, you’ve got a rented house.

You can’t customize anything, but its yours

Yeah I heard that Singularity had like 4 former WoW devs…

maybe who knows what met will do however if housing does become a thing wood cutting and wood working needs to be a things cut down trees to make furniture n what not

That can easily be added…WoD had wood cutting machine we used…

well yeah but wod was odd with the garrisons they just need to reinstall it

It comes down to: would people accept an implementation that is half-baked at best, or a minimum 18 month content drought to get a fully realized version.

My money is on the wait will do more harm than good, and the half baked version will leave a lot of people very unhappy (as we saw with garrisons).

Just a thought. How about the game lets us have a magic house. Wow is saturated with magic, so we can get an object like the Hearthstone. That we can carry around in our inventory. Then when we want to go home. We can just click on the hearthstone and a house spawns wherever we are in a clearing. I got that idea from a old game I use to play I think it was Baldur’s gate where anywhere you were you could make camp to rest and heal up.

Just out of curiosity. How difficult or costly would making player housing for wow be? Would it be something easy for the devs to include in the game or a monumental task?
