Will we ever see a WoW Linux client?
It’s not likely. Very few people seem to use Linux or any Unix system for gaming. Most people use MacOS or Windows. The market is just not there to support the cost of supporting the platform.

Good controller support and easier to run the launcher through steam for the steam deck would be a massive win.
Proton works fine and controller support is pretty good already (only retail though, Blizzard if you’re reading this please add controller support to classic clients!!!)
So I’m personally not phased if they ever make a Linux client, as long as proton works almost perfectly it’s not really needed.
This was always more a conversation topic than a request. I am however shocked at how many people still have closed/narrow-minded views on Linux. Seems there’s still a way to go before people realise it can be easier, faster and more reliable than windows to run on a gaming machine.
I’ve personally moved a few machines to Linux for gaming since the massive strides with proton and steam which valve have made in the last year.
I’d recommend when steamOS becomes readily available for download people should give it a go, it works great with every single game I’ve tried in 2022/2023 (literally hundreds of games). I think I’ve had literally zero bugs or games I couldn’t run.
Consoleport does it better than Blizz ever could
Consoleport is indeed useful, but really all it does is provide a nicer on-screen display of icons and makes it (arguably) easier to map spells to buttons. I use it on my own deck but when I play on PC on a TV, I don’t even bother to install it, just using muscle memory for spells.
AFAIK it’s not supported on the classic clients. Anyways, getting a bit off topic ;p
Have someone i know who uses on classic
How? It doesn’t work
Good luck to you haha. It barely runs on Windows.
Compatibility between distros isn’t really an issue anymore if you do it as an app image type setup where the versions of the libraries required are bundled, pretty common these days. Though Blizzard has no reason to do it and it would require significant work to do. I’d love to see one though
I rather use flatpaks to be honest but would choose app imige over snaps lol
Its made for all versions so i really dont know why yours isnt working
I started out using it when I bought my Deck. I couldn’t get over the inability to map R2+A, A, and R2+R1 (I think).
That plus the L2 and R2 being modifiers limits you to 10 slots on the default page, 8 on the R2, and 10 on L2. (My numbers might be off, as I don’t have it in front of me to check).
I’d really like to figure out how to map this stuff with the Blizzard interface and keybindings, since I used to play purely portable, but now I play docked with KB/M. Having the ability to just pick up and play mobile when I need to, and then switch back fluidly to KB/M would be a huge boon.
