Maybe a translator to understand them or what planet they hail from before settling on Azeroth? An origin story might ruin their character, so let history remain a mystery?
Yes… By gnomish technology so we can communicate with them and recruit them into the alliance… Please make this happen!
Murlocs are the OGs, and native to Azeroth. They have a small lineage of evolution that began with them.
Murloc > Jinyu > Ankoan.
You’re forgetting about the Oracles in Wrath, mate.
Presumably between Murloc and Jinyu.
Oh those freaks. I’d agree with that.
Playable demon hunter murlocs would be cool.
Actually they do look like Aqir so is there any chance it might be:
Aqir > Murloc > Jinyu > Ankoan?
Uh I don’t know about that. Aqir are bug monsters.
They both eat humans.
Like most carnivores.
I think that would make for a great attraction to content. There’s something intriguing about those murlocs. For me, it’s the memories of running old vanilla, learning to play WoW, and those dang murlocs agro’ing and kicking my and my friends butts. Grrrr…!
Makes sense.
According to wowpedia…
Murlocs are older even than trolls (and trolls are old). Brann Bronzebeard believes that an unknown frog Wild God or Loa was the progenitor of the Gorlocs, the primordial race that murlocs very well could be descended from.
I think it’s more like…
Murlocs > Oracles > ?? > Jinyu/Ankoan
Jinyu and Ankoan are like Nelfs and Nightborne. Close cousins separated by a bit of an evolution change due to their environment. But one isn’t more evolved than the other. Though I’m sure the Nightborne would say otherwise.
And there’s something between Oracles and Jinyu/Ankoan. Just not sure what…
The oracles are gorlocs- the oracle faction specifically are a group of gorlocs who have been exposed to the strange crystals in scholazar, which seem to have heightened their minds to some degree.
If Brann’s speculation is to be treated as truth (and we don’t know if it is) Then the metamorphic timeline would be Gorlocs > Murlocs > Jinyu/Ankoan.
While we know how some murlocs became jinyu/ankoan, we don’t know how gorlocs developed into murlocs- however it could be argued that “OG races” on Azeroth that were born from wild gods, loa, etc, could have a greater propensity to transform and change their physiology when exposed to certain energies or environments, something we’ve seen happen quite a few times.
I’ve got that drunk fish guy at my farm.
Murlocs need booze or something.
